On Saturday i went to go and get my 'fully sick' wheels put on and after waiting over 2 hours they finally came and told me that my car only has 4 studs - and i need 5 studs to fit the wheel! I really want these wheels but now i need to find a place where i can get some second hand or half decent cheap 5 stud brake discs and rotors and i guess some calipers - anyone know of anyone or anywhere, prefferably southside? I'm not lazy - i have done a search for some second hand places, but not too sure what to really look for and how much i should be paying. Any help would be lovely!!! Cheers - Sam

Unusual that a 33 wouldn't have 5 studs. I think you actually need the hubs that the rotors fit onto to have 5 studs as well. In the end it might be easier to get some 4 stud wheels instead. You could talk to someone like Option 1 Garage, they normally have bits and pieces lying around.

Cheers buddy, - I do really want to get 5 studs - so i might check out option 1 garage - thanks for the advise!

robocop: i'm pretty sure her car is a non-turbo 33 hence 4 stud :P

dirk is right the whole hub must be changed

there are a few options you can use each with its pros and cons:

1 - you can change the whole lot, do a stud conversion - hubs, rotors + calipers (good upgrade) and get 33 gtst items put in (this isnt a cheap option and a fair bit of modification

needs to be done)

2 - buy an adapter plate kinda thing - basically it bolts onto the 4 stud on one side and has the 5 stud pattern on the other (this changes the geometry of the car and means your rims

arent directly bolted to the original studs - i cant see this being a good option if you plan to

do some track work or drive spiritedly)

3 - or just search for 4x114.3 stud/multistud rims for your car (just keep looking there are bound to be another set of rims that look the similar if not better than the ones you want to put on - this is what i did - takes a while to search for the right ones but saves you alot of headaches and a bit of money. my rims are a 4x114.3 or 5x100 multistud - took me ages to find but you wont do ur head in over anything.

maybe post a photo of the rims that you would like to put on... and see if anyone has seen

knows anything similar.

try import spare parts places, just jap, rma import spares ect (hit the yellow pages for a good listing)

or as eug said, bolt on spacers that convert 4 stud to 5 stud are also around however your wheels are gonna stick out more due to you running spacers

Adapter thing sounds good - will research it more today - thanks for the advise - I guess i don't really know what im looking for, but god damn it - i really want these wheels. Im also thinking that when i put a turbo on that i might need to upgrade anyway - would that be right???

if you really like your car and want to turbo it then yes, i'd say you'd want to upgrade

the brakes too...

that said - you would have less headaches and more money if you bought a gtst already with

better brakes, turbo, and 5 studs.

in the end its up to how much money you have and how willing you are to put up with the

complications that are usually involved with such a plan.

I just got a quote for the whole lot - stub axels, rotors and calipers - $600 the lot - off a R33 gts-t - he said the rotors were in good condition. Is that a fair price - sounds faily good to me. - We will be able to put it on ourselves - just maybe need to get the brakes all checked - but is $600 good??

Shouldn't be hard to do yourself.. couple of days work.. You'll need some decent quality sockets, few big spanners, breaker bar.. 19mm, 17mm, 14mm and 12mm bolts are most of the ones around that area. If you need any tips, let me know.. I just did a brake conversion myself. I pretty much know how the whole thing fits together.

Yeah it's definetely worth it - nothing compares to these wheels - also i will need to upgrade once i put a turbo in - so it's all in good cause! $600 sounds alrite. Make sure u do ur research before forking out ur money though, could possibly get a better deal.. Maybe it would be more economical to buy a different set of rims?

Shall do - once the bloody things are on!! They just suit the car perfectly - they are HP brand - Saber, they are the machine crome - so not crome but more silver and grey edges - which suits the car - I have a R33 Series 1 - 4door - crappy i know but wait until i have done all the mods - then you won't knock the Series 1's!!! Trust me - it will all be worth it in the end.

Unless you've formed some sort of once in a lifetime bond with your car and it talks (like the nightrider car) I'm going to have to go with the sell it and buy a gtst option.

Seroiusly, it's going to be so much less of a nightmare just selling it and buying a skyline with bigger brakes (and the muchly coveted 5 stud pattern) a turbo, and all the other bits that come along with it.

sorry if you allready know this but (despite what squizz might tell you) there is a little more to it that getting a turbo and a socket set and bolting it on. Just for the sake of it, have a read through the naturally aspirated section to see what problems other r33gts owners have had with the turbo conversion and see whether you can tolerate that many problems. Personally I wouldn't inflict it on myself.

On the upside most of the bits you've allready bought for your gts should transfer to a gtst. It's also $600 that could go toward a gtst.

Of course if the turbo is somewhat of a pipedream and 2 years away then go crazy go nuts and do the conversion. If you can be bothered you can always put your car back to stock when you sell it.

The turbo is another year or two away - insurance costs and spending money on another car - but I am going to stick with this car - but if i was going to get another Skyline it would be an R32 - always been my favourite - But I'm gonna stick with this car - do it up as much as i can and make it kind of 'original' so people go - 'did that car use to be a crappy series 1'?? I'll get the before and after pics once all completed., and you will hopefully see my point.

Yeah I hate when that happens, why do you think I put the turbo on my one. At least it doesn't sound as gay as KITT or chuck the hissy fits :)

I know this is getting a little off topic, but if you like r32's better why in the hell did you buy an r33 gts 4 door? I'm really confused.

R32's are cheap, sell your 4 door and buy a r32 gtst or gts4 and stop being weak.

If you truly want to be original leave it stock. No one under 30 leaves their skyline stock. I think it would take a far greater drgree of self control to not screw with anything on a skyline. Now where is that legnth of hose? I think my car could do with running crazy rich and some more boost. :)
