Now that we've figured the push/pull, what clutch do you use with an R33 GTR box and an RB25DET? do we use a GTR clutch or a GTST clutch, or do they both fit?

Also on a happier note, my gearbox will be here in 4 weeks!!! time to get stuff organised!

If you have a R33 GTR gearbox then you will need to use a PULL type GTR clutch, as RB25det clutches are push type in R33 GTST, not sure about R34 GTT

It does not matter what engine you have, series 1 R33 or Series 2 Neo or Rb26, it does matter what GTR box you have. (hope that makes sense)

Well i got my Master and Slave cylinder fresh from Nissan today, getting one step closer now. my gearbox is due to arrive in melbourne end of next week.

Did you end getting the GTR vac type or 34GTT type master cylinder

I got the R33 type master, as i'll be using an R33 clutch pedal with a little modification to fit. i spoke with my mechanic, he said there's no trouble matching the R33 GTR slave to the R33 GTST master, and he think he can mod the clutch pedal to fit.

all i'm waiting on now is my gearbox arriving then it's all stations go. i'll let everyone know how it goes, any problems i get and so on.

Has anyone got any pictures of how they secured thier handbrake foot to the floorpan? Mine did have 6-7 welds, but the metal is really thin and the some of the welds didnt go through both pieces of metal, so now it has become dislodged. I have one screw just holding it there, but would like to know if I have to get it re-welded or will 10-15 tekscrews be fine/safe to hold it there? Also will they hit anything underneath the floorpan there, like gearbox.....?

Out on the turps mucking around with a mate, nothing serious though.

the console looks good, will be better once it's in my car though. thanks heaps. just waiting on the all important gearbox now before i start getting ready for not having a car for a few weeks

Shit happens ay :w00t: i can't wait to get things rolling aswell, just a couple of things to go, clutch and a few bits and pieces. Yeah then the problem of finding time, and most likely having to do without the car.

Has your gearbox arrived yet from Slidewize?

I received a email about my GTR front bar has arrived and have paided for the shipping to Brisbane

Should get it by the end of this week.

I have found a late R32 gtr box (push type) for $750 thru a importer in Brisbane, just deciding whether to get it now or later for the conversion.

nope, no gearbox yet. i need to get it here so i can find out what type it is, as i've been told there's a push and pull type gtr gearbox for R33...

no rush anywho, i need this cast off before i can use it

    • My theory would revolve around the ~4000rpm point being peak torque territory on an RB, where you're supposed to be looking at max efficiency of the head, etc, and....just not having it because the skinny ports are doing something to f**k it up. I'll admit, it's a loose theory.
    • It could be in the tune but in both cases it couldn't be completely solved or eliminated by some of the best tuners in victoria so I'm DOUBTFUL that it's in the tune or ECU but stranger things have happened of course. I've pondered that theory too but is there any theories that thinner and smaller ports overall would cause a turbo to spike? I would've thought it would just restrict it in general if it was small enough to make a difference. I wouldn't expect it to make a different at what is essentially sub 300kw at 4000rpm anyway. I think the next step is going to have to be the 6psi spring to rule out the idea that the gate is cracking open far too wide initially. At least that is the cheapest (free) thing to check initially.
    • I'm thinking it is skinny NA Neo port sizing and cams. Somehow.
    • -5’s did it. 8474 did it. Not hot side related. ECU related? 🤨🤪
    • Above you mentioned you only need to sand primer if there's an issue with it but with fillers it says the surface needs to be sanded to X grit beforehand. Does that sorta contradict that point as the primer hasn't been sanded yet? At the same time if I sand the primer, there's a good chance I'll expose the bare metal and I'm just chasing my tail at that point. Or I'll just use a sand sponge instead of sandpaper, it seems to be far finer in terms of abrasiveness as opposed to sandpaper. From what I understand, filler is like primer and needs scratches from the sandpaper to help it adhere to the panel. I realised the way I'm doing things is actually a bit counter productive as there's a chance after I put filler I will need to put epoxy primer again as opposed to putting the filler first and potentially no primer if I don't go to bare metal. Will keep this in my mind for the rest of my repairs.
