Hey with those wheels, what is it like to use on lap? Impossible? Impractical? If I got one I couldn't see myself making an elaborate setup for it or sitting at the dining table to play GT4

It's extremly uncomfortable as the bottom of the wheel has clamps for the table, and it's also quite hard to turn the wheel if its not fixed down. It definatly needs to be clamped to a table to make proper use of it.

i once had some crapy wheel given to me as a present (for the ps2) it's got a ferrari sign on it, but i can tell you now that it's rubbish. I've played on the standard driving force wheel and thats not too bad.

my personal opinion being if you dont get either the driving force or the pro wheel, it's probably better to just play with the control pad. Thats what i did with GT, 2 & 3.

I just can't see springing $300 right now no matter how much I want a wheel...

I'm such a hypocrite - about 2 hours after making the above post I went and shelled out $300 for the wheel...

Anyway I was trying it with GT3, goddamn it's like much much harder than using the controller???!? Granted I don't yet have a good situation set up for using the wheel/pedals...but I really really hope this is just a matter of getting used to the steering sensitivity etc because otherwise this sucks lol...I can't even win basic races with the wheel at the moment and with the regular controller I can win the toughest races in the game!

OK revised opinion: I tried the wheel with GT4 prologue and it rocks!! MUCH more intuitive than with GT3, the 900 degree rotation is awesome, as is the way the wheel fights you as you slip into a drift, feels fantastic, I think anyone who tries this wheel with GT4 is gonna love it.

Now I just need to figure out a decent setup for it...

LOL, yeah, it's just a matter of getting used to it, but it's definatly heaps better in prologue than gt3.

did anyone else see GT4 at the melb grand prix?

was in the superstore at the top of the track. just one systems with no sign or anything! played the nurburgring for 1 min and grand valley. nur graphics were great, better than gt4, buit grand valley seemed worse than GT3. maybe it was because it was an old track?

as for handleing, it felt good but only played for 1 min

No, I wasnt having ago at anyone.

You seemed a fairly certain about ProII and I thought you may have some proof, so I asked to post any links. (as no one else has been able too).

I think people get mixed up because there was the Driving Force (released with GT3) and now the Driving Force Pro.

So while there is no Driving Force Pro II, the DVP is kind of Driving Force II.

On another note, I heard that players with a GT3 save are going to be able to transfer up to 100,000 credits at the start of the game. So what are you gonna buy with your 100k?

I think I'll stick with a sonic silver 1996 Skyline GTS25t Type-M :P Want to see if it feels like the real thing with the new wheel....

I think 100k is too much personally, you could make up a pretty unbeatable car at the start of the game with that.

Anyone know if this launch is gonna be like the GTA San Andreas launch where some stores start selling at midnight

I don't know. I tried to look at the EB website but the Oz network doesn't have one. I ll try googling.

EDIT: Couldn't find anything. Might give EB a call.

EDIT: EB at Castle Hill are NOT doing a midnight launch. They said it would be there at 8:30 in the morning.

I just gotta a call from eb games, they told me that i can pick up my copy of GT4 at 9:30 am tomorrow.

I assume most other eb games will be the same. however maybe Grace bro. or k-mart might be open early?!

anyways gonna need a good sleep before i pick it up, cause i think i'm gonna be running off coffee for the next few night :coffee:

There is no R33 GTS25T in GT4. Unfortunately..... There wasn't one in GT3 either.

Dammit, that really sucks! I was hoping with 700+ cars they could at least fit that in jeez!!!!!! That seems ridiculous, no doubt they'll have all sorts of useless crap cars and can't even have a 33 gtst...grr.

Is there a list of the cars they have somewhere? GT2 is the only game that has a R33 GTSt as far as I can tell and it's starting to look, very very bad graphics-wise.

WTF?! why a 32, every gtr variant known to man and no gtst....

Ah, I just found one anyway.

OMFG look at all the skylines and you'd think wouldn't you they'd include a R33 gts lol:

I mean, lol, they managed to include 2 R32 GTSt's and a R32 GTS....

Yep I just got my call from EB. the guy congratulated me saying that mine was the first pre-order on their list and they I ordered it in 2003! I asked him if they are going to give me it for free. he laughed, then said........no. :)

Should'nt have much to complain about as out of the 700 odd cars, there are 57 skylines... now thats huge.

btw here's a list http://www.complex-solution.de/gameaction/...cars.html#japan

that list you got is missing a few, i think there are a few tuned ones as well, such as the mines R34, the carbon R & a blitz one if i remember correctly.

lol nice try tho!

As for the R33 doing burnouts...what a petty little man! I say we take R32-R34 GT-Rs and GTSt's and go do burnouts at PD...see how popular he is taking all those out of GT5!!

    • I would not be surprised if you are the only person on earth that has the interest/desire to do that lol.  The Haltech base map is a really good starting point, the car will fire easily and drive very well, even on mild boost levels. To me, following your advice sounds like some sort of ancient Chinese water torcher lol (this is not an insult Josh, never change <3)
    • Those car show concepts from the 2000's and 2010's like the Floria and IDx were brilliant and should've gone ahead, at least one of them. But neither Honda nor Nissan are thinking about affordable performance any more, which is truly sad.  Even if Toyota's liquid hydrogen ICE development reaches the point where it's commercially viable and the infrastructure to support it, Honda/Nissan would have to wait until Toyota allow fee access to their patents to offer it with any smaller performance models they released to take advantage of it.
    • A sporty manual RWD coupe with a IL4 Honda engine would only be a good thing I assume we won't see anything released for a few years though, unless informal talks and designs have been going on for a few years,  and due to the current, and future, emmisions and safety requirements, I assume anything "sporty" they would do would be at least some hybrid thingie And hopefully anything they are thinking of has nice lines, without lots of plastic and fake bits hanging off it like that horrendous FK8 that looked like it was designed by a 13 year old The other issue of course in the current market is cost, currently the type R is around $70k, a twin is around $50k Meh, I'm old and grumpy and would rather buy a older model car and waste my coin on that than buying anything currently available new
