The whole harness will need to be rewired...the ECU's are way different with the R34 being a fussy bastard with respect to having EVERY sensor working correctly.

As long as you've got the manual to work from, it should be easy enough.

I was just talking to a friend this afternoon about doing such a conversion in the future...

pending on circumstances.

the gearbox will need to be changed, wiring, loom, ecu, basically everything that made the

RB25DET run in the 34 will need to be brought over to the 33

lol ur looking at 10grand mate rofl

6 ish for an engine

then u need bigger brakes

better suspension

bigger fuel pump

as eug said a gearbox and thats around 2 - 3 grand LOL

then theres the installation and that aint cheap mate so basically the engine , gear box, good brakes good suspension and fuel pump will set u back 10grand already if u get suspension , fuel pump and brakes 2nd hand then u'll still be looking at 9grand or so, and then installation of the engine and the complicated wiring the r34 contains will set u back a shit load more.

just put a rb25det into my 32 however it wasnt a neo. pretty straight forward although i didnt personally do it. tailshaft needs to be fabricated as does the gearbox mount. needed to get a new pinnion assembly for speedo going from mech to electrical however not sure if u will encounter this problem being a later model car to start with. i know in queensland regulation states u must have brakes at least the equivalent from whateva car the engine is from, personally i went for s15 as being 4 stud they didnt have to get redrilled or anything and are actually even better then the standard 33 objects i think. (dont quote me on it). depending on diff to my require different diff

cheers, matt

gearbox may hold up if ur gentle. but then again whats the point in havin a turbo car huh??? i looked into this b4 and this is a VERY messy job hey. If its what u wanna do, then go ahead, just make sure u got a fair amount of money in the kitty otherwise ur ride will spend a shitload of time in the shed.

Realistically...the extra cost of putting the NEO in an R33 isn't really worth it..just put in an RB25DET from an R33 and you'll save thousands which could go towards a bigger turbo etc etc which will put you way ahead in power stakes than the mroe expensive NEO

i have read somewhere that the neo6 has a few extra goodies like stronger internals??? (dont quote me on that) which means you can probably run more boost) it makes more power stock like 200ish kw? and has a far greater potential than the standard RB25DET

your fuel pump wont need to be changed, my stocko is running my V8 with nitrous, there a pretty good standard pump, You will need to do the gearbox as yours will probably not handle the power as well as the diff, depending on how u drive, i broke 3 diffs with the rb25de though so maybe im a little harsh on the car. theres not much else u need, brakes can be an afterthought and dont need to be done straight away nor does the suspension. Ive had the V8 in my gts with stock suspension for almost a year now, its a little soft but u can make do with it.

About the brakes, it depends on what rules u use, there are a number of sets of rules regarding engine conversions, All i had to do is make sure my car had 4 wheel disc brakes.... Mine definately arent up to the task but rules said it was fine.

Depending on where ur from u will more than likely have to get it engineered.

hahhaa. im not to sure wether ur pullin the piss.... so i'll just clarify it. lol. RB25NEO is almost a direct swap into a r33. Onli difference is coilpacks from memory. U can grab the ECU from the r34, not sure if is reprogramable, otherwise just go aftermarket. Then just bolt on turbo, manifold, intercooler, etc. I rekon u could get away with this option for abt 5k.

    • Can't say I've had a bad experience with one on my car, then again it only gets washed once or twice a year... The wheels on the other hand, get a good spray often due to my shitty dusty pads.
    • @MBS206 thats pretty neat and tidy to me!  I'll get a photo of mine when I'm out there next. It might require multiple photos to understand the scale of the atrocities though... In total I have 4 sheds of varying sizes and layouts. Main shed is 14x8, second shed is 3x8, third shed is 11x2.5, fourth shed is around 6x4.  All are pretty much full.   The main goal of my cleaning tsunami is to make the main shed predominantly car and motorbikes only. Second shed is my metal fab room (2 x bench grinders, drill press, bench belt sander, metal band saw, scrap metal storage and some of my garden tools.  3rd shed is more bigger garden stuff, storage for engine crane, jack stands, concrete grinder, concrete mixer, air compressor lives there, and it now has two 2mx2m pallet racking shelves with itemised boxes holding building stuff, electrical stuff, plumbing stuff, etc, etc.  The 4th shed is Ryobi electric ride on mower, mini boom sprayer, ancient Kubota tractor, more garden stuff!  I have got a lot of shit....  Then there's the pool house (8mx4m) and the pool pump shed (4mx4m).  I built all of the sheds over the 11 years we've been here.  The main shed was a Ranbuild kit, the rest are all custom made to fit the areas available. Building the main shed taught me a LOT as I had no idea about building anything prior to that!  I've still got one more in me. It will be my man cave which I poured the extra concrete for way back when I poured the concrete for the main shed. The idea is the Skyline will be a centre piece of the main cave once (if...) it's finished.  I told my now 14 year old son yesterday that I will 100% drive him to his year 10 formal in 2 years. Still a long way off but at least I now have a date to work towards! 🤣
    • Modern oils are amazing. Add tyres to that as well.
    • Probably a smart choice to buy one vs build, purely for the motivation part as you said! Imagine the metal dust everywhere from grinding all the steel to build one. Ha ha ha!   Also, post a photo of your garage.   Mine is below, this is where I've been cleaning and have already half filled a caged 6*4 trailer. And this is after my cleaning expedition mentioned previously... The middle normally has a car in it, but I'm dumping things in the middle as I sort through them. And poor skyline was dusty and has had the lightest few drops of rain and now it looks atrocious and needs to be dragged back out and washed thoroughly! And yes to the right is technically another bay, you really can only see 2 bays out of 3 in this picture.
    • It's more like on average the things I see a lot of things going wrong. Yes, usually the people who reach out are the ones who are having problems but on average it feels like mechanics and tuners here aren't really competent. I swing between thinking my standards are just way too high and wondering whether people really are just this dumb. I just had the strangest 10+ reply argument on a Facebook group over someone insisting that the factory R34 GTT boost control solenoid reduces boost pressure to 5 psi when it's on and raises boost pressure to 7 psi when it's off despite showing the exact plumbing in the factory service manual and the solenoid behavior detailed in the FSM.
