 Hey guys, I'm new here and have just bought an 89 R32 GTS-t 4door. It's great even though it's been at the mechanics getting complied since i've had it, i just can't wait to get it and go for a drive.

My question is: I'm looking at putting an alarm system with an immobilizer in to the car, put i'm not sure of how this can be done so i can still use a turbo timer? Is there a way it can be wired that the immobilizer wont kick in till after the timer shuts off??

hope someone can help?

Cheers,

Yes there is. I'm told that all you need is an extra two relays - one to cut the immobilisers, and another to cut the ignition signal to the alarm (so it doesn't go off). I have NFI how they'd need to be wired in (I'm an electronics noob), but a mate of mine who does this kind of thing for a living mentioned this a while back and said it was a fairly simple thing to do.

Yes it can be done so that the immobiliser/alarm and turbo timer work together. My brother has such a setup in his Evo. He has a Brant system as well as a Apexi timer.

I heard from a Brant contractor that some timers are harder to work with than others. He said the easiest were Apexi and HKS and the hardest were GReddy and Blitz.

You can also do it without relays... I have an immobilser, alarm and turbo timer. But you have to lock your door with the key. When you turn off the ignition, the turbo timer will allow the car to continue running, therefore the immobilser thinks the car is still on and wont engage until the engine stops... that's providing your immobiliser self - engages. :)

Many of the immobilisers these days are turbo timer compatible.

With mine (Mongoose I think it is), with the engine running and the doors locked, any attempt to open the car (or drive it away) will result in the alarm going off and the immobiliser cutting in.

Thanks strutto but i tried a few searches for keywords and couldn't find much information.

Did you post anything much different to what the guys have said above??

Try this one mate:

Thanks for that strutto. I'll be getting my alarm in a week or so. and hopefully the car as well for that matter. The mechanic got sent the wrong seatbelts for doing the compliance and i'm stuck waiting for them to come in. Doesn't that suck.

So hopefully i'll get everything and it will all go well.

Everyones help is really appreciated. Thanks for your input. :(

Hey thanks johhno,

I'll be installing the alarm soon. I started on the stereo on the weekend, and then got pulled up with the antenna adapter. And guess what, no on in Hobart has one. I've ordered one over the net that should be here tomorrow, but i'm not happy.

So how did your alarm turn out, everything working fine?
