Should I have this hole? (near turbo)

I was trying to remove my O2 sensor yesterday (which is a total bitch by the way - I gave up). I noticed that I have a hole near the turbo. It's not on the turbo itself but it's close enough for me to be worried.

Anyone got any ideas?

I have an R31 so cant confirm but to me it looks like where the bolts to hold down the heat sheild should be??

yep.

there should be a bolt holding it down but they tend to break off. years of heating and cooling and so forth.

you'll find others along the heat shield that are still on there.

if it really bothers you, take another out of the heatshield and go get a matching bolt and put it in the hole.

i got it with mine after all the bolts - bar 1 - had fallen out
