He had his fuel pump replace yesterday as they through that was the problem, but it still doing it, i still think its the fuel pump as mine was the same and when i replace it it fix all the problems.

any ideas?

cheers michael

Air flow meter?

might as well take it off and clean it.

(it's the little black box bolted to the air box or on the back of the pod filter just incase you don't know where it is)

unplug it

take the hose clamps off

take it out of the engine bay.

spray some degreaser in it, then hose it out (when I say hose i just mean running water.. don't turn the hose on full blast. it is sensitive.)

then let it dry and put it back on and see how it is.

it's a free thing to try and might just fix it.

GTST

Um, I wouldn't exactly use degreaser.

Use electrcal contact spray.

The Hot Wire is extremely sensitive, I wouldn't think degreaser would be all that good for it.

BASS OUT

are you talking from experience?

where you used it and it broke your AFM?

cause when I cleaned my skyline AFM once every 2 months with Degreaser, it had no problems.

electrical contact cleaner will work obviously.. but most garages contain degreaser.. not many have electrical contact cleaner.

if you want to go and buy a can of it then do that.

degreaser works fine,.

err degeaser is quite bad for air flow metres. I used it once and killed an afm. CRC contact spray is the go. dont be a tight ass like some.

well you hadf a bad experience and I had many good ones with it so I don't know what else to say.

Oh.. I cleaned my S14 AFM with degreaser on saturday afternoon when I washed the air filter and the car is working perfectly.

tight arse.. hahahaha..

good one mate.

Hey maybe degreaser does work, but the correct thing to use is contact cleaner. It doesnt leave any residue and negates the need to 'wash out' the AFM with water after applying the degreaser.

I would of imagined that using degreaser, then washing it off with water - you cant really get in there to dry it because of the mesh - wouldn't there be a possibility of rust forming?

Maybe because you were using degreaser thats why you had to clean your AFM out every 2 months? I do mine about once a year...if that.
