Ok since most of u guys have a shit load more experience when it comes to modifications and wat not, thought id post up some stuff im gonna do to my project car (96 gts) now im aiming for around the same power as my 95 gtst (225.1rwkw) or possibly more

i thought it mite be best to start with some stronger internals, and then hook a turbo up later,

what do you guys reckon,

- hypereuretic (however thats spelt) pistons as opposed to forgies coz im not after too much power as yet

- some new camshafts

- a set of valve springs

- possibly a new cam gear or 2 lol

- some conrods and better bolts obviously

now i havent gone into this much detail with my gtst but im not sure how strong the rb25de engine is and if it will be able to handle a good turbo :)

after i strengthen the engine with all the above am i to see any if at all performance improvement before i turbo up :)

thanks anyhelp would be appreciated, also do i need to strengthen anything else before i consider a turbo :)?

Building an engine for NA performance and building one for turbo'd performance are worlds apart.

It would be cheaper to junk the RB25DE and buy a tired RB25DET to do up when the time comes.

In fact it would be cheaper to just sell the NA car and buy a turbo one.

So much is different, Brakes are inferior on the NA for a start.

because i can :) lol i didnt ask for u to comment on how much it wud cost, becoz i know how much more expensive it is, im doin it coz i got money and i can, and coz i wanna be proud of wat ive done to it to get it going harder, and not just chuck in a rb25det in there spend 6grand on mods and achieve the same results ive already achieved in my other skyline, and PTR33 i already have a gtst, i told u its my project, wat part of that do u not understand? if i wanted ur advice on saving money i wud have asked. all i wanted to know was wat else i need to strengthen, not to have some geek comment on how much it would cost, because they are tite

negative cun ts, geez how easy is it to chuck a rb25det in there and do that up, but wheres the fun in that mate? are u my financial advisor or something? i dont wanna take the easier and cheaper option, coz eventually u'd have to do a strengthen internals anyway, this way ive already strengthened and wont have to worry for a while, as for breaks and suspension ive got spare brembos and stock gtr suspension :)

well guy a GTR and make that go hard.

would be safer for all concerned. And less of a head f*ck

If money is not a problem,

Use a RB30 bottom end and aftermarket crank girdle to allow for big rev's, forged rods, forged pistons and a ~12:1 comp ratio.

RB26 head with a set of really big cams, a nice porting/polish as you will need lots of rev's and as much airflow available to make the power you are after.

After all 225rwkw is around 270-280kw at the flywheel.

Thats a lot of power to be had from a little 2.5 or even 3ltr.

Not sure if it can be done to be honest.

A 3ltr n/a needs 100% VE @ 9000rpm to flow ~360hp at the flywheel which is ~270kw at the flywheel.

A 2.5 n/a with 100% VE needs almost 11,000rpm to flow that same amount of air.

Thats a lot of frequent rebuilds. :)

yeah ive been reading about that it seems really hectic, rb30 bottom end rb26 head been done very nicely by a guy in victoria it think it was he was getting sumwhere around 850kw but thats wit the biggest of hks turbos (single turbo) full worked internals and all, very nice indeed, im not looking for that much power but will definately do some research and see wat can be done. gotta carefully plan this out, slowly work it up etc

ta for the info cubes :)

as Cubes said go for an RB30DE

if you want N/A power you need bigger capacity and lots of revs

i was going to build a twin cam high comp RB30DE

aparently it could have made 250-300KW@W depending on the fuel and tune.

i think thats the way to go if your serious about it

grab an RB30 black and an RB26 head and start building it

IMO its an awesome project good luck with it :)

nice!! doin my research, just need some price figures on the rb30 bottom end etc? yeah its a nice idea, hopefully it works out will, gonna be slow as lol, work 5 days a week spend 2 days on the project LOL :)
