Hey All,

Just want to see what people think about these devices. Anyone had experienced with them before? There are two different ones available and they are the Road Angel and Uniden GPS system. Road Angels cost around $850 whereas the Uniden is only $288. How accurate are these? anyone know which one is better? might consider buying one. They are 100% legal to use on the roads right?

Yeah they are legal on the road.

I think they run off some GPRS system and you need to update the information on the net of the location of speed cameras/red light cameras. However they will not detect mobile speed cameras.

They actually don't detect speed cameras, just alerts you when you are near a fixed camera from the data that is supplied by the company. The unit also alert stuff like black spot area, school zones etc.

Hopes that help and I think you also have to pay to subscription to updated data.

They work by the GPS sattelite system, you connect them to the internet thru your PC to upate the maps when new ones are released. Its just a whole bunch of GPS Co-ordinates that are stored in memory, all accurate to a few meters. I'd like it to find out actual road speeds which they can aso display :D

speed cameras are a joke. you spend too much time looking at your speedo and not the road. no wonder we have so many accidents in melbourne. red light cameras make sense im all for them. but speed cameras and getting tickets for 3 k's over is just a way to make money for the govt. u need cops out in unmakred cars finding the 'hoons' that are doing 10+ over the limit. they should be fined, not joe blogs with an out of tune speedo that says hes doing 59 when really hes doing 61...and next thing you know...flash flash...that will be $$$ thankyou

it is rather stupid, considering the speedo can be greatly effected by the condition of your tyres... thats why most other states have the 10% rule, eg if your doing 70k's you will only get fined if your doing over 77.... but oh no not in dicktoria....
