Looking at buying a cheap HR31 which has an RB20DE in it.

I'm guessing the RB20DE redtop won't set the world alight performance wise, anyone got any ideas how difficult it will be to change to the redtop RB20DET (I can get one cheap).

Also, its a GTS-X, any idea whether it would have the front struts with the larger caliper mount spacing like the turbo models? Or are the non turbo HR31 GTS's only equipped with brakes like the aussie models?

Also, aside from the gearbox, diff, engine, basically I'm wondering if there are many big differeces in the turbo/non turbo cars. Doesn't look to be....

It won't be difficult to change the rb20de to the det. The compression will be higher, which has it's advantages and disadvantages.

What you need is the turbo manifold, turbo, intercooler, piping, ecu

The T03 turbo from the silvertop would be a better turbo than the redtop t03. If you will be using the standard sidemount intercooler, you will need to cut out the vent in the front bar. I would suggest getting a cheap front mount ie. Hybrid 780x300x76 or one of the hybrid clones. Great FMIC

For the ECU, make sure you get it tuned first. You don't know what settings the ecu has been set to.

You might also need to replace the injectors too, maybe fuel pump also.

With the redtop, it has better flow than the r32 silvertop rb20 but you would want get a a/m ecu where you can change air/fuel ratios and some form of electronic boost control to get the full potential of it.

Another option is to drop a r32 ECCS silvertop engine in it as you can pick these engines with the g/b, loom, ecu, engine for pretty cheap these days and there isn't a problem with regards to fitting. Bolts up with engine mounts with no problems.

With the brakes, the non turbo use the same 254mm rotors and calipers as the Australian model. Turbo models use 274mm rotors, a little larger twin pot calipers.

However, this isn't a problem. I bought my hr31 front struts/hubs/brake assembaly for $250

I hope this helps

Sorry for the hijack, but $250?

Where from?

The lowest i've seen around is $600, ranging up to $1100

Xodus aka Ashley Baylis when he crashed his gts-x.

I've seen them go for $450 on the 31forum. Even Neo6 with his rediculas prices (ie. gts-x grill $250) was $500 for the struts etc.

I'm surprise $600 is the lowest you've seen. The highest i've seen them go for was $750

Anyway i hope it helped Floody
