Cold Air Partition - template

Just made a cold air partition for the 'line, much better throtle response when the engine is warm, especially bottom end off boost - in fact, I cant notice much difference from when I start up to when I have been sitting in peak traffic for 1/2 hour. Well worth the effort.

The reason I was starting this thread is that I now have a template for a cold air partition (took about 1.5 - 2 hours till I was happy) and if anyone is interested to copy it, please let me know as the template is the hardest part. My template is designed around a FMIC, but it wouldn't be hard to modify for a stock one. I also have some metal backed foam left over - enough for one partition if anyone is interested, let me know, although the cost of the foam is very cheap, about $10 for half a lineal metre

Mr Hyundai,

The partition sits just behind the pod and fits in where the suspension tower meets the inner guard, on the other side it goes around the outside of the little black emissions canister. I got the materials from clark rubber, just metal backed foam and I also got some 1.5 inch thick soft rubber tubing used as a heat shield for pipes, slit it down the middle and slot it across the top of the partition to seal with the bonnet. Not sure what the tubing's real name is but at work I have heard it reffered to as armourflex. It must seal pretty well as the induction noise from the pod is reduced a fair bit, but it still growls when you poke the loud pedal:D

Adam33, sorry dude, I'm not much of a 'tech drawer', but I might copy it onto paper and post it to you if you want. Mate where do you live.

I wanted to know what kind of filter you are running at the moment. I downloaded another template recently and when i looked at the cut out i did on the car it was too close to the guard and the filter didnt even reach that far, so the box would have started after the filter finished, leaving the filter in the engine bay with nice hot air and the box in the corner, it was classic.

if you are near me I can rock around with some cardboard and trace the template onto it and then leave.

what you up to on the weekend etc. or have you already got a cardboard template

elaborate tell tell, actually maybe a few of us could meet up quickly with black texters and make copies. how does everyone feel about that.

thats a good idea, i wouldn't mind a copy either, i have got one now but it came with the car and isn't a very good fit, i think it would let alot of hot hair in.
