Running engine while bleeding brakes?

Recommended Posts

Hi guys. After I fitted my braided brake lines, I bled the brakes with the engine off. This is how I've always done this, usually with good results. It came up great after 3-4 bleeding sessions. Rock hard pedal, nice feel, NO air bubbles what so ever. When I started the car up, the pedal dropped a heap load. Still pulls up better, but the pedal is really low, with little feel.

I told one of the guys here at work ,and he said to bleed the system with the car idling, due to the fact that it has power assisted brakes. His explaination was that, if you don't do this, it will leave you with a airblock in that part of the system.

Has anyone ever heard of this? What do you'll do?
