Missing exhaust manifold bolts

Hi all,

My question:

If there are say 3 exhaust manifold bolts missing does this affect the car in anyway? Would it affect high rpm power??? Is it really bad?

Reason i ask is cause today i was looking over my engine bay and noticed 3 bolts missing...

Any advice would be great...

Have you done a search yet coz I know of a few threads that cover this question.

Anyway. If it doesn't leak, it doesn't matter. It is a good idea to get 'em fixed anyway but it's up to you. Easiest way to check for leak is get a 1 meter length of garden hose and use it to listen around the manifold where it bolts to the head. This will amplify the sound and you will be able to locate any leaks. If there are none, then don't worry about it.

BTW - do this test with the engine running.

firstly they are nuts and most likely the studs are snapped, trust me if u have the time and money you should do what i done, i removed the exhaust manifold, i got it sandblasted and i got the face machined, more than likelt it will be slightly warped, i then sprayed it with exhaust manifold paint and i replaced every stud while it was off and i got a new gasket and put it all back together and it looks brand new, and its good to know that everything was done properly with new studs and nuts ..

generally they snap because they arent tightened with the right torque settings.

if they're overtightened, because of the different material of the nuts and manifold, etc they'll expand at different rates when they heat up - and this causes them to snap off...

this is what i've been told/have heard, as i dont actually own a line, anyone is free to correct me.
