Value of Skylines

Was talking to a bloke named Heath Borissow who owns Shogun Car Co here on the Gold Coast. He was saying that next year when the new compliance regs come into effect that compliance will go up from about three grant to about seven. Heath says he'll be bringing in R32's, GTiR's and Soarers and that R32's will be selling for substantially more - he'll be selling them for about 22 grand. The same applies for the Soarers and others - substantial price increases reflected into the re-sale.

This will drag up the market a good deal and augers well for you and me who are already owners.

Am I the last to find this out? Has anybody else had similar drum?

Heard a very similar story off a importer who visits japan every month!!

new import laws are definately coming in if not already in, but before we start getting excited over our imports holding or increasing in value - you have to look at what the local market is doing.

- increasing import insurance premiums

- reformed traffic infringement fines

- reform on license demerit points (well in sydney anyways)

- stronger local car market with the XR6T & MY03 for example

you have to start to wonder is it all worth it....

The new scheme begins on the 7th of May 2003

Prices of imports should be going up which is good for us import owners for resale value

thats awesome.. this will probably mean that less people will be buying skylines, hence skylines will remain more of a 'what on earth is that' type of car:)

Well with stuff like this going on at the moment i can only feel sorry for the owners of such vehicles..........It will finish next year and i hope that it will put back some of the value that was lost on the market.Although sometime the gov can be a bunch of knts.....this decision will proctect whats already here

I am in the procces of buying a r32 gts-t, the plates atr about 3,500 at the moment but in about 2-3 weeks they will be at 4,500 but i havent hers that they are going to get any heigher than that, but of course :)i would love the value to go up by that amount as i got mine for under 13 with some mods and big wheels.

When I started shopping for mine the plates were $2250

When I purchased the plates a few weeks later it was $2850

can someone please explain how the system works .. i mean plates?? .. do they only make a limited number of them?? can't u just import the car u want if it meets the power to weight restricitons or whatever it is??

if you want your imported car to be driven on the street it has to have a complaince plate. there will only be a limted amount for many sports cars. i think its 25 a year for r32s. I heard this some where am i may be well off the actual amount
