well i have an R32 GTR and i want to try and find a set of brembo callipars to fit any ideas where to start looking, or should the original callipars be fine. i think the v-spec came out with them but otherwise i need them from a later model. does any one know it they fit straight on or will some changes need to be made?

Yeah I would be looking at other options, to me the brembos are expensive for their size. Have a look for used 6 piston ones instead if you reallyh need bigger brakes.

But you probably dont need bigger ones, jus get good brakes and great fluid

Unless you are doing regular track days they expensive rice but having said that I can get you some reconditioned for about $2500

no offence to whoever your supplier is, but that is exactly why people should not buy GTR brembos.

I paid $1500 for mine and it hurt, but I had no choice due to racing class rules.

For $2500 you can get the 6 spot porsche brembos on the same disc as the gtr brembos.

2,5k, i agree is a rip.

The 6-spotter Porka Brembo's retail @ ~$800 per calliper. And they are double the size of the GTR brembo, and piston size is very large

So thats $1600... plus fitting and a two piece rotor and your around 2.5/2.7k which is far better value if your spending that much

Ok a question concerning the 6 piston calipers though.:D

The pistons are different sizes front to rear, correct:)

The pistons are sized this way so that when travelling forward the pad is forced evenly onto the the rotor.

Now if i look at a Porsche, the brake caliper is on the rear (door side) of the rotor with bleed nipples obviously facing upwards.

So now if you want to put the same 6 pot Porsche caliper on a Nissan, the staged pistons sizes are going to be the wrong way around, as you will need to swap the LHS & RHS side calipers so that you can bleed them correctly.

OR, is it a matter of swapping the bleed lines and fluid line around so that it all works?

That plus talking to places the axial mount on the POrsche 6 pot caliper makes them a pain in the ass to mount on anything but a Porsche:( it can be done like anything, but i still need some convincing that this avenue is the way to go?!?!?!?!?!

And one more thing. From a bit of reading i have been doing of late...am i right in saying that typically you can use a good qulaity 4 pot caliper up to 355mm in rotor diameter, but typically 343mm is seen as the biggest rotor you run with a 4 pot caliper?

Any bigger and the caliper pistons are nto in the ideal position relative to the rotor and their ability to force the pad onto the rotor is compromised. So typically if you want to go bigger then a 343mm rotor then you need to start looking at 6 piston calipers?!?!

And vice versa, if you have a 324mm rotor, then most 6 piston calipers wont saddle the rotor properly and the the pad contact patch wont be quite right?!?!

Is this correct? As a rule of when you need to consider calipers, its more a rotor diameter thing then wanting to stop any better?

I checked out some 6 pot Porka calipers today. On a Skyline the pistons are going to be around the wron way.

Porsche have them so that the small pistons lead, with trailing larger diam pistons. So the only way to orientate them on a Skyline so that the pistns can do their thing and maxise pad wear/force is to swap the fluid/bleed lines around...but i was not able to confirm whether the internal galleries are symmetrical and this can be easily done.

It appears the Posche 6 pots wont work properly, so looking at a CSC 343mm setup next week, escaping that i may have to go to 6 pot APs as the 4 pot APs dont take a 32m thick rotor, only 28mm thick :)
