i was driving through some hills with a friend in a 78 troopy with a trailer on the back and he double clutched, to keep the load up. i can see why there but on a drag strip i dont see much point. i guess a lack of torque..or power..dunno

personally i like to be nice to my box and give it 0.5 of a second in neutral between the change... never 1 movement. the synchro synchronises (as they do) and it goes in nicely. maybe this will save me some money.

most people i know refer to clutching it through the gear as double clutchin

.. i.e u shift into 2nd and gunning it pedal down, pumping the clutch to get the revs up
