Common r34 problems

Hey all

Just wondering about common problems with the r34.

Im thinking of picking one up just wondering if there are any common problems

people find with them if problems are consistant will i have to be replacing shit all the time, is the stock turbo to weak will it blow on high boost etc...

just thought id investigate before i decide to buy

Nah, not many probs. Just look out for obvious signs of mistreatment. The turbo's are ball bearing so they are very responsive but I think they still use ceramic wheel. It would be best to upgrade if you wanna run higher boost. If so PM me, I can buy all turbos cheap. As for everythin else, they are very reliable and strong. Just get to know the car and have it thoroughly inspected regularly.

Cheers i just thought id do alot more research before purchasing i had a mate who wanted a gtiir signed up to a group so he could elarn about common problems and shit

cant go wrong, if im gonna have to end up keeping replacing shit id like to know before hand rather then rock up to mech and be assraped

Plastic on the exhaust side??

I thought they have ceramic exhaust, plastic compressor due to heat???

They have nylon (plastic) on the compressor side and ceramic on the exhaust side. Turbo can handle about 0.85 bar fairly reliably although you could get unlucky.

I found the rotors couldn't handle much stick on the track. They warped easily and it wasn't long before I had to replace them all.

My car spat the gasket between the turbo and the exhaust manifold and the thermostat was done at one stage. Apart from that I've had no problems.
