I'm no longer interested in the DFA for meantime Shan, I might get it later on in future though. And my friend is switching his order from the DFA to EBC. So the order (including my friends) is now:

3x Independant Electronic Boost Controller

3x Hand Controllers

3x Cables

does the HC have light? and no writing? if so then do what newkleer said. The trimpot is located near the 25 pin thing to the left its blue and white, turn clockwise about 45 degrees. If the hc has no light at all then i don't know.

i'll try that out shortly......also ..i checkd the soleniod and tht works with direct power.. but when i hook it up to the board as per instructions..nothing happens.. ive got my jumpers set to suit ..as its a normal open unit.

when i turn the ignition on .....the solinoid ..being normally open should shut with power going to it.... its not doing that at all.

but ..at the same time ..i should have power to the HC.....but again ..its not doing that at all... trying to find my multimeter at the moment to track down the weak link

Matt

i havent either, but wasnt expecting till early next week (given monday was public holiday, so sending out on sat would be like sending out on tues)

Finished my DFA today, did everyone wire the link between the crystal capaciter thing and the hole near the plug?

If you are talking about the 20Mhz crystal, yeah, I did. It's jsut to ground the metal case of the crystal but in all my years in electronics, I haven't yet found why they do this. I'd say do it anyway. :)

this one's for the guys waiting for a mail delivery... I've been sent back all the parcel post packages I sent out because I hadn't signed the dangerous good disclaimer

anyways, after talking to the guy at my postoffice I've organised for them all to be delivered via express post (24 hour delivery) so you should all recieve your packages tomorrow for sure.

Hey guys ive just noticed something on the IEBC pcb thats a bit confusing, the small link link5 is shown in the wrong position on the printed circuit board... Make sure you follow the overlay diagram not the picture and not whats printed on the pcb.

And yeah i earthed the crystal things... i dont think thats documanted very well either, i suppose its not that important to do it.

hey funky jsut wondering if it's time to start the new group buy, or at least get peoples intrest.

awesome job mate

cheers mark

i'll start another thread for group buy #2 shortly... i've just sent off the last of the first batch (hehe good one NewKleer)

this thread's a bit too long for people to browse thru n stuff. But has lots of good reading for people buying... I'll summarise costs in the new one and you guys can put down what you want. Once the necessary numbers are up (which should be within a few days) I can put in a second order.

next time I'll just cut the crap and just mail out using 24 hour delivery satchels, they're much more effective and they can hold an ebc, dfa, cable, book and handcontroller... just.

Did everyone get fragile stickers on their packaging, because I asked the postie to stick em on.

    • Great to hear you are bringing it out of the shed again. Unless you have specific issues I'd just add the wideband, get a good tune and enjoy it. Certainly no point changing coils etc if they are working. If would add fuel pressure and e85 sensor if you are doing a general update but not if it runs OK and you are just getting it back on track. The other thing is smaller, modern twins, -5 are OK for motorsport but pretty laggy and old tech for street use (of course, if performance is the priority a modern single with twin scroll manifold etc is the go but not cheap). The final thing worth considering is switching to an ethrottle if drivability is still an issue, it should make things a lot simpler and smoother
    • Yeah pretty sure they are m4, but best to check, and perhaps use new hardware Also don't over torque them......there was that one time I lost an expensive engine after a workshop overtorqued one of those bolts and it ended up in the oil pump (no, I don't know why they removed the intake mesh either)
    • I might have to shoot them an email. Pity the exchange rate is so bad at the moment. BTW, thanks for posting that table makes interesting reading.
    • Add these Sensors -Wideband, Oil Pressure, Fuel pressure, Intake air temp Good inspection of ignition system of coils, plugs and loom (12v feed and good ground)- a r35 kit is best bang for buck upgrade. A decent tuner should be able to see any issues with the trigger system- a link has good filtering but a good simple upgrade is the nz wiring bolt in kit. Check and replace all the fuel filters- you would be surprised at intank filter after a few years. Also good to check for any leaks on vac hoses and pipe work as has been said. No need to go overboard and spend big $$$ to enjoy the car. A quality tuner is getting harder to find as anyone with a laptop thinks they are a tuner. A link has great features to check sensor voltages and frequency inputs and easy to see live by pressing f12. The link can do a TPS & RPM fuel/ignition mapping on ITB cars then add a 4D table with MAP and ability to add a 5D to it (can help with economy at cruise with wheel speed vs TPS) Where are you located as that will help narrow down a good tuner ?
    • Reviving an old thread, I reckon my stagea is starting to slip. Car usually gets parked on a hill, narrow driveway so cant go up the driveway smoothly, anyhows, lately first gear feels "sluggish"? Not responsive. Feels like I gotta run the engine more than usual to get off the line...  Any recommendations for transmission servicing in Sydney? Or possibly just an excuse to go manual ?
