Hey guys,

I need to organise some transport for my un-registable car from a workshop in Seven Hills, to Melbourne. Does anyone know of any good companies,? time frames?, costs?, etc. I'd like to have it down here in Melbourne sometime during this week.

Had a friend hook me up with a trade plate, but the idea was vitto'ed by the parents  So yeah, need some truck transport please.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

cheers,

chinny.

if my memory serves me correctly, i had my car trucked from melb to syd with TNT - http://www.tnt.com/country/en_au.html - for about $300 (i think!).. but it was the best price i found!!! i was happy with them! they did an inspection before leaving, and upon arrival to make sure it arrived in the same condition so that made me feel more comfy using them....

i'd like to use companies ppl have used personally themselves, rather than picking a rando out of the yellow pages. but it may come to that.

i rang a place called CarMove(r's?) $440, insurance for fire/theft/collision. But NOT for anything in the car. Ie my Advan Rims (advan tyres) turbo timer, exhaust parts, head unit... etc. So that really sucks... if trucking ppl are as bad as wharfies.

I called TNT just then Moanie, but their car section is closed till Monday.

well, now that i've got RACV Total Care, my parents have let me fly up with a mate to drive it down

so it's all sorted!! sorry to get you to reply to a thread which doesn't have much importance anymore :P For "Search" sake, this is what i found out.

CarMover: http://www.cartransport.com.au/

$440 - Syd to Melb. Insurance only for fire, theft, collision, etc. Not on the goods in the car. Need about 24-48 hour notice. 3 trucks leaving Sydney weekly. Door - Door.

Toll: $420, 48 hours notice, 3-4 days delivery time. Not sure bout insurance

SMB (Sydney Melbourne Brisbane): $385 + GST, to not got to depot's in Syd or Melb.

Syd depot to Melb depot $245. $315 from workshop to Melb Depot. $385 syd workshp to Port Melbourne.

Other places haven't contacted. Finemores, TNT Couriers.

cheers,

Thanks Moanie, Silver.

    • Personal experience. Those f**kers burn. And are actually a PITA to put out. Next time I walk down the back, I'll snap a photo of what the inside of the bonnet looks like when that thing ignites. PS, powder fire extinguishers are useless on that stuff too as it's fibrous and when it ignites, it starts to pull apart. And you end up just blowing powder through a sieve effectively.   Like the big thing is, if it's fire resistant, it's job is to stop what burning? The METAL above it? It's just to try keep heat off the bonnet paint work.
    • Oh man, sorry, $60.00000000... 😛
    • That's more or less what he meant. What it really means is that you do not have to go full crazy on the build. Don't need the best oil pump, expensive rods & pistons, big cams, etc. You can upgrade whatever you want instead of using stock level items, but you don't have to. Having said that - any time an RB is opened up, if anything is getting replaced, I think the opportunity should be taken to do all the sensible upgrades. Pistons, rods, pump, etc.
    • February update 🙂 We managed to get the very last 1/18th "Extra Scale" cars stock available from bookstores in Kyoto. These are actually the last ones and will not be restocked again! Hachette Collections Japan have not decided on a release date for these or other models in the series, so for the time being these are all there are available new.  These are showing up on Yahoo auctions at inflated prices already (especially the Celica and NSX) so get yours now at a very reasonable price before they disappear!
