depends on the program - scantech nissan is probably the best for figuring this out.

they arent too hard to make urself. ic's are easy to find also (just search ur electronics place/site/shop for 4060 and max232). hardest thing will be the crystal (2.457mhz or anything that can be divided to 153.6khz with the 4060 ic)

Ok, I checked the consult port is connected to the ecu. I tried connecting to the ecu itself. No luck. The USB/Serial adaptor works by the way. Tested it with a serial mouse like you said. No, haven't tried it on another car yet though. Don't know anyone else who owns a skyline.

thats all u can do short of whipping a multimeter out and doing some testing. contact the guy u bought it off and he might be able to tell u if theres any easy way to tell if its not working (im not sure what circuit he's using)
