Hey Guys,

When the GTR gets here, i'll be giving it a full service and dyno tune.. but I was just thinking, where is the best place in QLD to get this done?

Being awd, do I have to go to some special awd dyno, or will any do? Who would you recommend and how much? :)

I'm in Brisbane, but I am happy to drive to the Coast for quality.. :)

hmm before everyone else says it: first, do a search, there is millions of threads on this issue. There are a number of places you can take your car that have awd dynos and all have varying plus's and minus's. You'll struggle to get a definitive answer, but from what ive seen I think mercury are the best down your way, I also like Millenium Motorsports. However im sure you'll get alot of ppl from here recommending Gavin Woods, so i'll mention him as well, hes on the Coast. In all honesty it depends on where you want to take your car in the future as well, you need to build a relationship with the workshop as like it or not your car will probably be there a lot....so you want to like the ppl your taking your car to and of course they must be good at what they do. Anyway, good luck and I hope you have fun with your new obsession.

Just use the sponcers dude...

Mercury Motorsport...

They have a very nice AWD dyno...

I 2nd them. Millenium Motorsports Don't run a DD, dyno - Thus reads a little lower. I used Matty Spray (spelling?) For a Power Fc tune, was pretty happy with it.

Everyone seems to be happy with mecury and I know myself I should do a search but seen as this thread is here, ill use it. A power fc is going into my new car and I would like to know if anyone has had mecury wire and or tune their car in regard to this ecu and what they thought of their work? Also how did they find them price wise? I will give mercury a call in regard to pricing, but if they are as good as everyone is saying I might send my car there and use them as my primary workshop for my new car. I have, of course, attended a few dyno days and found them to be extremely professional but I was just wondering what the "customers" thought, especially in regard to pfc's.

Cheers ppl, Matt

what is the tuners experience @ mercury?

my car is nearing completion so i'll be needing a run in tune, and then eventually a full power tune. Mercury are close to home. My car has an EMS Dual Sport ECU which a few previous workshops have had problems tuning with it, Again i dont want to have to pay for someone to learn how to tune an EMS while i pay for it.

i got my r33 done at mercury and couldnt be happier.

i've got a 2530 with a gtr front mount, 550 cc injectors, z32 afm, gtr fuel pump, pfc with boost controller. they installed the injectors, z32 and fuel pump and tuned the pfc. i asked for a fairly conservative tune with as little knock as possible to keep it reliable and they pulled 210 rwkw at 1 bar, (just whilst i learn to drive with that much power).

it would be possible with 1.4 bar to get around 240-250 but then you get into issues with reliabilty. get it retuned in a couple of months.

but i found them to be very helpful and very smart when it came to skylines. and all up it only cost me around $900 to fit the injectors, fuel pump, power fc and boost controller and z32 and also alot of time on the dyno for tuning.

thanks

matty

apc (advanced performance centre) at underwood in brisbane tune my r32 and r34 gtr....

they have datalogit (laptop software) for gtrs, gt st and all sr20 cars with apexi power fc...

my car has motec on it now so they can tune anything...even a 9 sec race gtr....

brand new 4wd dyno also....

hope this helps...

ask for rob and mention my name and they will give you guys a discount...

    • UPDATE: Hi all!  As we are getting towards the end of this thread where I’ll showcase final dyno numbers and graph, I wanted to provide an update. Tao from HyperGear has done an amazing job building the custom divided T3 housing for the G30. Communication was flawless, price was great, and now the housing is estimated to arrive in 7-10 days! Very very pleased. I must add, if someone is looking for an affordable turbo and end up reading this thread, I would recommend HyperGear. Genuine brands are the way to go as their proven reliability, predictable performance, and there’s a plethora of information available for specs, flow, and more. This HyperGear recommendation is based on their excellent communication, dedication, and willingness to listen to their customers. I particularly liked their ability to create custom adaptations tailored to specific needs, which is a HUGE benefit over other brands. And if we consider the HyperGear provided dyno results, it adds reassurance knowing their turbos can compete against genuine brands. Next update will be after the dyno!
    • I've previously seen people post up "dress up bolt kits" for RBs but don't remember seeing them specify the full contents. I can only really suggest you grab the verniers and start measuring, and keep in mind the cam cover and timing cover bolts are both quite specific with a wider unthreaded section where the bushes sit, that will make it hard to get aftermarket replacements which tend to be all thread (set screws) or for longer bolts a flat section with a shorter threaded section at the end
    • I believe there was a similar one posted by @duggyphresh. They were re-routing their battery positive cable in the way I am also trying to achieve. Sorry, I’m new to this forum, so was a bit late to the party by a few months and so reignited the old thread, as I wanted to know how they got on with doing it.
