Ahh so are you mature enough now? but not yesterday? or am i caught in some time vortex? If you really wanna leave then do so but if not stop having a cry, i know i dont care im sure many feel the same way. If ppl really didnt want you here you would have been banned a long time ago....... oh wait :(

mikey whats the point of leaving after defending your actions and saying you will only come back when you are more mature! at the end of the day all u need to do is read into things a little more which wont piss people off. I for one can say that your posts aint what they use to be and you have learnt alot since u have joined.

but at the end of the day its your decision and im sure you know whats right!

the place isnt so bad you know.... just needs a little spring cleaning

having been around for a while, (second user name due to bannage) i can say ive seen it drop from where it was just 12 months ago

but its not a lost cause, its not all over,

the members themselves have to raise the standards, not push younger guys away. its simple... think of yourself as a noob in the scene and relate to that.

also make the guys feel welcome at events, so many times i see all the new guys sitting round feeling left out while the old skool laugh and chat away

im blessed enough to know most of the right ppl in the scene, and this is just an opinion of what i see.

wow funny that this thread has gone so far..

mikey like people are saying

bro if you feel if you are contributing to the problems especially if you are saying you feel immature.. then dude leave and do as you are saying you are going to do.

if you feel it necessary to ask peoples opinions then thats fine.. but your conclusions are your own to make.. leave if you want.. stay if you want..

alot of people like to pretend that they know everything about skylines and alot of people also like to act senior when they arent senior or they aren't oldschool

dont fret it.. you have been here long enough to know how we all are.. to know how it works. you didnt pretend to be something you werent

you asked a gazillion phucked up annoying questions.. but lately you have been giving advice when other have flamed newbies.. thats admirable..

BUT

if you arent ready dude.. then leave. i wont hold you back.. as the attention getting is starting to annoy me.. the things i and many others have said.. dont even need to be said.. its common sense and common knowledge.. do you see all the old schoolers posting.. nah not really.. why cos everyone is waiting to see what direction the forum goes in.. while concentrating more on the club aspect.. i don't have alot of time for the forums anymore cos all i am getting is flashbacks from years ago when i joined (long but not that long) everyone knows there is a search function... newbies should recognise that this forum is trying to be more mature.. we arent the hot4's and fast fours forums.. but more a dedicated group of import owners trying to make a haven for ourselves.. we dont want to always be talking about things we find irrelevant.. so we dont post..

If boobs wanna talk neons and rice and nitrous in a speculative sense then go for it.. but do it on a forum where these topics are rife, not here where 9 times out of 10 you encounter flaming. i have no problems with new members and new enthusiasts and getting more of an awareness out there, but diluting the pool of knowledge that has been built up is not right. and i dont think anyone..old school or new school or special school should have to put up with that...

Now to everyone that finds the noobs posts annoying.. its been said before.. dont post on the thread if there is a problem..BUT if you have 60 seconds.. why not do a search and link the results to the thread and say "listen noob...searching is always going to be your friend... use it or ask a specific question so we can see maybe you have tried to search or at least done some research."

anyways i am about to sing kum ba yah so i had better stop.. get enough weird looks at work with all the porn already

Personally I found that when I joined these forums (well before SAUWA was even formed) everyone was friendly, helpfull and knowledgable... After chatting with people through the forums and meeting people face to face at cruises and events it felt like SAU was almost a second family..... these days it doesnt have the same feel.... the friendly atmosphere is gone and the group seems more widespread and not as close as it once was....

That being said I cant see any easy answers to the position we are in these day...

well.. its normal that as a group gets bigger and bigger, it kinda breaks up into little seperate groups with different ideologies, different attittudes, backgrounds etc.. this in itself makes it impossible for everyone to *genuinely* get along and like each other but we should all make the first step of becoming civil to each other, and think before we post..

NEW MOTTO FOR THE WEEK : THINK BEFORE YOU POST

seems stupid and pretty basic, but take 30 seconds before u post to think about the consequences of what you're saying and how it affects other people.. lets just try that for starters

Well I've jumped onto this thread a bit late but I completely agree with what ozzie_21 has pointed out. When I first discovered this forum (only a couple of months back) I began posting questions which were inappropiate to others users of the forum and learnt quickly when I 'fired up' other members by asking stupid questions. However I do from time to time ask questions like that but as some have pointed out, the reason people (or most people) are on here is to learn, have fun and to meet other people. I spend a lot of time reading the posts that a lot of the more experienced members have put a lot of time and effort into and spend the majority of my posts into passing on that information.

I don't have excessive amounts of money. I don't take out huge loans. And I don't have rich parents. I've learnt from the ground up by having a crap car while people around me have built up fast cars and enjoy the life that comes with them.

Believing the stereotypical view of young 'P' plate drivers with skylines (young members), that they are all irresponsible, stupid and essentially just 'hoons' is plain stupid. You cannot say that the mature skyline drivers of SAU build there cars up to being awesomely powerful machines and then stick by the road rules and drive like a granny. Of course not! While I am not the most experienced driver on the road due to my age, I could say that I'm a much more capable driver than the majority of people my age by being a mechanic by trade and dealing with and driving cars everyday and having the right mind set to know my own capabilities.

I can't wait for the day that my car finally gets onroad so I can come down and meet some of the people behind the keyboards that have helped me learn so much in the past 3 months. Even though I know you don't have to own a skyline to come down, I think I'll save myself the embarrassment of rocking up in my 86' Ford Laser Ghia :bahaha:

meh i have been here since 2002. i was here when i still drove my excel everywhere. I don't post much any more.

Reason: Everytime i read a threads started by one of the younger crew there is always some old school lurker waiting there to dis them and tell them they are a noob and to f**k off etc. So i jump in make one post brandishing my crusade sword. then get told that i havent read the old skoolers post correctly and instead of being blatantly sarcastic narcissistic and nasty it is actually all said in jest. (and its not just from the old skooler it's also from mates who i have known for many many moons and they would rather defend people they are trying to look up to instead of backing up their mate)

I really cbf with posting much any more. I would rather read the dates of the cruises and try to attend (work permitting). I am yet to sign up as a member of SAU but on the other hand i am always willing on cruises to throw money in the kitty for you guys and help with cooking or other pleb related tasks. Quite frankly the state of the forum has gone down hill not just from the stupid, banal and uninteresting posts from the new "younger" guys but also from the elitism of the "older" crew. Hell. I'm part of the older crew and i even find myself being ignored on cruises and such mainly for the fact that im a bit nervous meeting new people and no one ever makes the effort to meet me. (exluding a few people who know me and have met me and talk to me everytime) New guys feel more than welcome to come talk to me at cruises and such. i may not be great techincally but at least i'll have a laugh with you.

Anyways guys overall 95% of you are great. I'm sure that over time the forums will improve. I remember back in early 2003 there were posts about the forums going down hill etc. Its all cyclic IMHO and SAUWA Forums will rise again ready for a new set of noobs to annoy you and make you want to leave

As your all here...

Does anyone know where i can get my FMIC insured? :headbang:

Now that the obligitory joke is out the way,

:singer:Too much anger is generated by miscommunication. Please remember ppl that in normal communication between humans, words only make up about 10% the rest is tone and body language. Now most of you may have noted that this 90% can't really be used in a forum (apart from Niz and Sneeza coz i have hidden web cams ) Therefore can I suggest ppl rely on smilies more?

All too often i have seen something said and then backtracked by "oh i was joking" or "being sarcastic."

If you are saying something in jest. Make it so with a smilie.

Make sure that your meaning cannot be misunderstood.

BTY Liz, love that top :(

Regards n older Lurker...

lotta points of view here, very interesting...

The forums have been a great help to me, my car isnt one you see very often and it's REAL HARD to get information on my car but i've learned a lot more than i would have anywhere really. I've been as careful as i can when i ask questions and i get decent answers. (especially in the Classic Skylines section) Cant ask for much more really.

I've seen some unnecessary or smart-ass comments on the WA forum side from the young and old. Just be careful of what you post and nobody gets hurt :(. It says so something like that in the posting rules already isnt there?

Cant say much about SAUWA and the members and etc, I havent been on many (any? ok 1, the Car Rally, and met ppl at Sci-Fi for not very long, sorry peeps) cruises but i'm sure to crack the ice soon. You're all nice guys anyway ;)

Been a member for a fair while, had a pintara to start with then a silhuette so was always on the outside :(.

The decline of the forum side of the deal was in order

Whoretown perth

Becoming a user pays club

Sst posting more often

This is all

Actually the high point of sau was when Boostzor hit the curb in armadale, and then the video that followed, no offense but that was classic, all down hill from there. Good to see that you still post. Other highlights Macka getting a 12.9 rev210 getting a 13.2 with STOCK COOLER! and a couple of late night cruises that i can unfortunately not remember

Aaah yes glory days

Not much has changed forum wise. I think it's a little more organised than it was.

Bitching is about the same, just different people and issues.

I remember when I suggested that a fairly stock R33 gtst could go under 14's easy on the plex I got some discouraging feedback from some of our longer standing members. I think Rob77 got into plenty more arguments when he towed the same theory. After I got the times everyone of those guys gave me the thumbs up. Since then there have been quite a few people do the same thing.

I think the WA section still has plenty of great people on board. The longer people hang about the better it is for new members when they have a question or two. There are quite a few guys who don't own skylines anymore who still contribute.

The reason we often suggest newbies do a search on a topic is precisely why this forum is a good as it ever was from an information point of veiw. Although I don't get much out of it, it's been great to add to it over the years.

My opinion of the state of the forum is ......... SHITHOUSE

ahhh the old days - and the old cruz's... when the topics where helpful and the reading was interesting.....

Recently topics such as

"How cool are my neons"

"What colour is your Skyline"

"Take me for a spin"

Have really excited me...NOT

When SAU used to be the first forum I would sign in and check - its now about third - and if I down get time to do so - who cares.

BUT.... thats the internet - so except it..

What I would suggest is a OLDSCHOOL SAU (even going as far back as Skylines Downuder) gathering. For the vetrans ONLY...... maybe a get to gether to see how where all going. I would love to catch up with Ken , Dave, Adam, Jim and his bro, Dan, Paul, Troy, Joe, Chris, Brett, etc.... how about it boys ....

Dan - joined April 2002 - became bored shitless with it 2004

It's a pity some of the older members have gone now ... such as adam32 etc

Used to be good fun cruising in the old days. Now I don't even bother ...

And the forums ... well the thing is I find that there's a lot of crappy, useless posts. As someone said, imports these days are a lot more affordable to younger kids. So they buy the car, jump on the forum, mouth off, be cheeky .. whatever. Then all the older crew gets sick of reading the forums and leave, and you're left with shit. Unfortunately.

JiMiH, you got it spot on mate.........couldn't have said it better myself, i may not be as old as some of you, or been on these forums as long as some of you........but there is alot of shit on the forums these days...... hence why i and many others don't post much anymore...........

and yes i do admit to giving newbies shit...... because some people just deserve it.............. but in saying that i do believe it is only given when it's deserved....... some just take it too personally...........

on a lighter note .... i blame nissan japan for creating such a beautiful car.... that caused too many people to buy it.......... :( hehehe

every forum on this planet is the same

you either have to get over it or join a forum that costs money to signup and post

sau would be much better if we paid 10 bux for an account to post - something to think about ?
