Hey guys, one of the suppliers we use at work just informed me that he has CF bonnets available. So I went and checked it out. Turns out the bonnets aren't 100% CF but a single layer of carbon fibre on a fibreglass base and a layer of clear coat to make it look pretty. Was talking to the supplier and he mentioned that they supplied Kamikaze and a few other online shops.

Anyways, the trade price on these is $650 with GST included. Cost of shipping to NSW from VIC is around $50 as a guide with insurance.

It comes with a 1 year manufacture quality warranty. If anyone's interested in them I can put an order in for em and have em sent out directly to you.

The only model they have for Nissans is this one, but they plan on getting others done. Will see if I can get pics too.

All valid questions (completely skipped my mind to check which series it was too), will try to grab some pics of them during lunchtime tomorrow.

No vents, looks exatly like the factory one, but with a CF skin, and insurance dosen't cover CF bonnets from memory.

Is there anything in particular that you guys want photos of, as I don't want the trip to the warehouse to be a waste of time. Also if you guys want to co-ordinate amongst yourselves to get some group orders I can try to see if I can get them for a cheaper price.

AllBlitz... supplier's well... its not you guys :( If you're concerned about proft margins I think I make about $15 on em... I think that's fair for the time and effort I put into organising it.

Hehehe. I dont mind you making money out of it dude, in fact you deserve to be paid for your efforts. Reason i asked, i wouldnt mind going to check them out for myself, and perhaps advertising them on my site.

sorry, haven't had time to go to the warehouse to get pics. I can tell you that they are Series 1 only.

The only bonnet available for a Skyline is the R33 Series 1 bonnet, with no vents etc, with all the same structure and layout as a standard bonnet.

They plan on getting others done hey? Well if they get the R32 done ill be interested, esp in GTR style. Also guys, you can get the drift style bonnet vents from JMS. I saw them on the website the otherday.

    • I mean yes, if you're starting from scratch on an unknown engine yes you don't need to be doing all kinds of math in the background but if you're doing relatively minor changes like AFM + injectors + boost up with some aftermarket turbos it takes quite a bit of math if you want to do something like maintain OEM fuel + timing tables but compressed and then a bit more load scale up top. I think I've spent too much time working on big engineering nightmares though so I'm a big fan of trying to constrain the scope of whatever work I'm doing as much as possible and trying to get it right before moving on. For example, a local owner just did the usual E85 + single turbo conversion to his R32 GTR and nearly burned his car to the ground doing some spirited driving up the local mountains. Turbine is unshielded and too close to the hood insulation. It's tough to balance "just get the project done" and "seemingly small details can cause massive setbacks I'm not willing to deal with".
    • No idea about Neil's steering wheel, but I have the same behaviour in the Stagea. I doubt it has ever been messed with so might be normal. Indicating to turn right at a roundabout and correcting even a little bit to the left to go around will cancel the indicator. Never considered it an issue other than it being a bit odd.
    • Does anyone know if this is off centered? Looks like it, when I indicate to go right, but turn my steering wheel slightly left it cancels (was always like that even before I started messing around with it) was wondering if anyone else has the same issue?
    • Nothing photo worthy since last update, lots of little plumbing bits for the AAC/Cold start valves, and unfortunately I still need another couple of parts for the brake booster line and the AAC into the plenum. Otherwise it all looks good to start up engine wise, onto checking the electrics/interior
    • Good news mate, plenty of spares available 5:40
