hi, can i still get in on this group buy.. i'd like the gray one.. pm me payment details pls!

that problem with chrome is on every gear knob.. my $160 mom gear knob had the same problem (cobra leather side inserts) it even fell apart on a 40 degree day the leather inserts fell off coz the glue melted.. The chrome also got very dirty and spotty..

hand acid is very nasty after a year of rubbing your knob..

now.. that sounds.. very .. bad..

All the people that have asked to be added have. The black chrome should be here in around 1 weeks time.

I will send out PMs as soon as they arrive.

Cheers

Greg

I got the gear knob today, I’m very pleased with it, but I have one question, how do you actually install the gear knob it didn’t come with any fittings, it just looks like a perfect fit minus the threads on the inside for the gear stick. Is there a certain way you install the gear knob

Thanks

Osman

got mine today and its actually better then i expected

i though it was going to be a bit too long but its perfect

thanks alot man

oh and to add to the wear subject

i had a trust grex black chrome gear knob

the chrome went all funny on it within about a 1.5 year period

it was almost like corrosion.

so even the big doallar ones die eventually

Can someone who's bought one post up a pic of it installed for me please.

I dont have a pic of how i installed but i got a 95 gtst and it too losse to fit in the thread. What is did was went to work and turned up another plastic insert for the inside. All i had to do to make it was make the second staggered bit 9mm. Hope that makes sense. If you look at it form the base you see it staggered. Yeah because the thread on the gear stick is like a ISO metric 10mm so with the 9mm hole you can just screw it in by hand. Hold well and can be removed if i want to, ie not using silastic or some sort of glue. Hope that helps

Glad to hear you guys are happy..

Please leave feedback for me

I will have more available for you guys soon... About 7 days or so hopefully

They are on there way here, not too sure of the delivery date. Not too far away at all.

I will collect payment once the items arrive.

Cheers

Greg

Ok what problem exactly? With mine it was too loose so i removed the white insert i came with. Theres a screw at the top undo it an you can pull it out. Then taking the measurements of the original one i made another one but with the second one the second "staggered" hole inside it (if you look from the base the plastic insert has a number of "staggered" segments) and changed it from 10mm diameter it was originally to 9mm diameter. This alllows you to just screw it on to the gear stick by hand. As opposed to using silastic or glue so it is easy to remove if you have to. Made with pcv plastic bar and turned on a lathe.

hrm ok, hope i've got the understanding right.. i dont currently have the knob with me but... u're speaking about the segment that's next to the screw? u made that 9mm.. did u change the second segment to 9mm too or made it slightly smaller too? coz that too is a bit loose so u'll have a bit of twist i guess (Vertical twist as in top to bottom of the knob)

i think ill try with some rubber inserts first.. if its not fitted enough (coz i sometimes race on track and frantic gearshifting has caused some previous knobs to slip and miss gear!) may have to trouble u to make me another one of those inserts..

OK i ve been playing around in paint and this is pretty close to what i made. It worked for me i might not work for you. The first hole is either 14.5/15mm cant remember exactly shouldnt matter that much. Ok on the original insert the second hole is 10mm (too loose) so i made it 9mm. Made it 9mm because the gear lever is 10mm diameter it has a thread pitch of 1.25mm and i m pretty sure ISO metric fine thread. As a rule of thumb you make the hole 1mm smaller than the thread hence 9mm. If your worried about it being too lose try 8.5mm or something.

Remember i used plastic not metal. So you can make the hole slightly smaller. You might have to modify the standard screw to get it to fit in the hole i got another with identical thread and ground it down on the grinder to make it fit. If it all works well should be albe to screw the screw in the top of the insert that goes in the actual gear knob, then screw it by hand on to gear lever. Mine fits fine no play. Let us know how you go.

PS I was gonna post up a pic i made up in paint but im a noob and cant work these forums. I can email it to ya if ya want.
