hey, this seems like a good buy. before i consider purchasing one, i want to know if the gearknobs have the H pad pattern on the top ? i havent got my skyline yet, but will be doing so at the end of the yr. this is gonna be my first manual car, soo i kinda need the H pattern to learn my manual properly(never drivin one before).

the pics ppl have posted doesnt seem to have it. but can u confirm this ?

thnx

also, where about in melbourne are u located ? please pm me. thnx

hey r43_skyline,

they don't have the H pattern on them.

for everyone else, I bought one of the matte ones from Greg yesterday.

They have a nice weight to them, very good quality!

too bad they dont come with the inserts, but for the money you save buy a really cheap knob say for $20 and get the inserts from that. Your still $90 ahaead of buying the real thing! :headspin:

OK i ve been playing around in paint and this is pretty close to what i made. It worked for me i might not work for you. The first hole is either 14.5/15mm cant remember exactly shouldnt matter that much. Ok on the original insert the second hole is 10mm (too loose) so i made it 9mm. Made it 9mm because the gear lever is 10mm diameter it has a thread pitch of 1.25mm and i m pretty sure ISO metric fine thread. As a rule of thumb you make the hole 1mm smaller than the thread hence 9mm. If your worried about it being too lose try 8.5mm or something.

Remember i used plastic not metal. So you can make the hole slightly smaller. You might have to modify the standard screw to get it to fit in the hole i got another with identical thread and ground it down on the grinder to make it fit. If it all works well should be albe to screw the screw in the top of the insert that goes in the actual gear knob, then screw it by hand on to gear lever. Mine fits fine no play. Let us know how you go.

PS I was gonna post up a pic i made up in paint but im a noob and cant work these forums. I can email it to ya if ya want.

yep cool.. will try the rubber insert method first then do your method..

tho i still don't have a lathe..
