Hi everyone,

I'm new to the forum..

long time reader but only just started posting..

i'm thinking about getting me an r34 GTT some time next year.. but i'd like to know what experiences you guys have had when leaving your car somewhere..

Coz i'd be shit scared to leave it anywhere..

How do you guys deal with something if it happens as well? and can you reccommend any good alarms or deterrent systems?

Thanks.

where bouts will u be parking the car?

Ive had my r33 for bout 6 months and no problems at all.

but then some people have just had their car stolen, i think there were 2 or 3 guys on the NSW forums had that happen.

if u can afford it get fast track. kinda a gps thing in ur car, but make sure u get insurance for theift. its well worth it.

i'm not sure..

it'll be my car so where-ever i go i'll have to drive...i.e. if i'm going somewhere dodgy i cant drive another car..

i'm located in Kings Langley... suburb outta blacktown.. its a good area round here so i'm not too afraid of that.

where are the problem spots than i should look out for?

Yeah i'd definately be getting insurance..

and an alarm before any other mods.. but i'm not too sure which alarms are good..

Hey Phil,

I live out west as well, Mount Druitt. I have had 2 lines & 2 VLT's with no problems of theft around blacktown, Druitt etc.

In my current line i have a Brant nemisis, very happy with it.

Main thing to remember is the little things, like hiding boost controllers & timers, parking with the front end in & front wheels turned (helps stop towing) & a steering wheel lock.

PS. A Snake on the front seat helps too.....

heya

well i usually park my car in a number of different places throughout syd

just be smart at where you park, my common rule is dont park at westfields etc

im probably lucky as i havent had anything done to my car "yet"

i usually try to find parking on the street with alot of ppl or a secure carpark (not that it is actually secure but so far so good)

yeah, i have a brant nemesis as well but i'm more paranoid bout vandalism than the car being stolen

jesus christ CWest you poor bastard...

I feel sorry for you that must really suck..

how do u deal with things like that?

just grin and bear it or something?

I mean - unnecessary costs for repairs and stuff must be ridiculous..

Macquarie westfield - do u mean macquarie centre?

Problem is i tend to go to those places quite often..

is there anything appealing (aside from the fact its an r34) about the car?

also - do u know what theyre usually after if they try to break in? or are they jsut trying to steal the car?

I'd love an r34.. but i reckon i'd be far too conscious of the safety of it when i go anywhere to be able to enjoy myself..

Whats so good about the Brant alarm system?

If ur not getting a car cause ur worried bout the theives they have already won... U just have to be smart about where u park it. CWest geezz ur unlucky. how u beat the hell outa the guy who tryed to steal it.

Like if its a quite night in a dodgy neighbourhood dont park it there. during the day it should be right prettymuch anywhere... with exceptions.

Keypad start buddy!!! You got 3 main points on the remote key, then you have to put in a pin code before you can start the car, otherwise car wont start. Has turbo timer function, black wiring, internal and external siren with battery back up

Its sall good, and can even stop you from driving your own car at times if you dont really know how to operate it, lol...

Other than that, if you park, just make it so your car stands out and its visible to alot of people passing by. Also if you got gadgets, try hide them, alternatively, get heavily dark tinted windows like me

That sounds interesting..

how much would one of them set u back?

They were trying to steal the car but i guess couldnt see that i have immobolisers. And yes i meant Mac Centre. Its usually OK as long as you dont park in the cinema level there at night.

I really am not too bothered by all my experiences, I still love my car. I put up with it because I understand that its a risk you take when you drive a car worth stealing or vandalising.

Visually my car has a full cwest kit with no spoiler so its only a little bit more different than say ecls car.

Whoops ECL i forgot to measure my side skirts for you will do it tonight.

I ummmm didnt do anything to the person  . I merely pointed out that he should not mess with other peoples possesions.

    • Forgot to include this but this is the mid section of my steering rack that looks like it has a thread/can be turned with that notch mentioned in the post:
    • Hey everyone, Wanted to pick some brains about this issue I'm having with rebuilding my 33 rack (PN is 49001-19U05). All of the tutorials/videos I've seen online are either R34 or S Chassis racks which seem to be pretty straightforward to disassemble but this process doesnt carry over to my rack. Few of the key differences that I've noted The pinion shaft on the other racks bolt on with 3 torx bolts: Whereas my rack bolts on with 2 allen head bolts: These changes are pretty inconsequential but the main difference is how you pull the actual rack out of the housing. The other skyline/s chassis racks can be taken out by tapping the rack out of the body with a socket and it just slides right out. I'm unable to do that with my rack because there's a hard stop at the end that doesn't let the seal/shaft be tapped out. Can also see a difference in the other end of the rack where mine has a notch that looks like you're able to use a big wrench to unthread 2 halves of the rack whereas the other racks are just kinda set in with a punch. My rack: Other racks: TLDR; Wanted to know if anyone has rebuilt this specific model of steering rack for the R33 and if there were any steps to getting it done easier or if I should just give this to a professional to get done. Sorry if this post is a bit messy, first one I've done.
    • I would just put EBC back on the "I would not use their stuff" pile and move on.
    • Can I suggest you try EBC directly again and link them to as many competitor catalogues as you can to show their listing is incorrect, eg https://dba.com.au/product/front-4000-series-hd-brake-rotor-dba42304/ If you have access to an R33 GTST VIN and your VIN, you could also use a Nissan Parts lookup like Amayama to show them the part number is different between 33 GTST and 34 GTT which may get their attention
    • So i got reply from EBC and they just this site where you can clearly see those 296mm fronts on R34 GTT. I send them photos and "quotes" that 296mm are not for 34 GTT and they are too small. But it will be very hard to return them cuz nobody here knows 100% and they just copy those EBC catalogue :-D https://ebcbrakesdirect.com/automotive/nissan/skyline-r34
