just basically the chances of theft of parts as comapred to roro and i heard that the container would be tamper proof sealed untill i can open the container myself.. ( i guess there is a time frame on this so it possibly wont happen)

the reason i went with a container is that its highly modded and has alot of electronice and good gear in it so i just wanna know how safe its all gonna be ;)

I had my car put in a container. No additional scratches/damage apart from the ones on the auction sheet. No mould. And my 10 disc cd stacker still in the boot. So I guess things dont get stolen. (I didnt even know about the stacker)

i really think if it does show to be a safer option for ppl concidering it cost me extra $600 or so for container over roro u just think about how quickly $600 can be stolen in parts from an import and it seems a good option.. would only have to pinch a few of my defilink 2 guages and thats ya $600 right there!!!!!

Had mine in a container as it was full to the roof with all my things. Nothing stolen. Full check list done at that end and I snipped the lock thing this end. Very happy with it and worth the bit extra. I disconnected the battery at that end anyway and reconnected here so no could easily drive it and consider its ride height was about 3 inchs at the lowest point, no one would have got far anyway!

saff_cossie, what did that container cost? PM if you prefer.

Sorry mate, like a squirrel and nuts with these posts, keep forgetting where they are!

Container including insurance was 1200pounds (car came from the UK). Insurance was about 100pounds. Took ages at the shipping company as I had to list all my 18 boxes and what they contained for quarantine reasons. Worth it though as 3 months later when it was cleared at this end, I knew what was in them.

It's still pretty sad though that you have to go to those lengths to insure that your property isn't stolen or damaged. Really you should just be able to put your car on the ship leave everything in/on it and it should all be there at your destination.

*Sigh* the world today.

hey just wondering if the car is shipped in a container... there are more ships available yeh? as i do not need to wait for a car carrier?

More container ships available, I would say yes although if your sole purpose of using a container is to get it here quicker, I wouldnt bother unless someone in shipping can confirm time differences for the two.

If it is for security then I would use a container

    • Update time!  The JZX110 had some maintenance needing to be done, so a lot of the seals with replaced to fix some oil leaks. Also used this opportunity to whack on a front mount that I'd bought some time ago.  I also finally got the rear lip painted and fitted.  I then got the exhaust done. It's just a catback for now. Custom made 3" stainless with a turn down. I could have a tip coming out, but it will require cutting the rear lip and possibly the bumper itself. So far I do like and it's made the car a little more zippy.  Close out with some nice pictures of the cars and a sneak peek of what's next.

    • Just something I found searching for more info on Emotion R, apparently the ECR33 Skyline GTS25t was either originally black, or there were two of them, the black one being the original demo car, then building a white one which was part of the 1997-onwards (to at least 2008!) Cockpit Tatebayashi Tokyo Auto Salon booth demo cars. It appears that Emotion R closed down in 2008 and was declared bankrupt in 2010: http://bank-db.com/hasan/208365. Scan of a magazine with the black R33 from 1996: Wayback machine archived page from May, 2000: https://web.archive.org/web/20000529061027/http://www.emotion-r.co.jp/skyline.html Option magazine with a few photos from the Cockpit Tatebayashi booth at the Auto Salon from various years: 2002: http://www.jdm-option.com/photo/index.php?action=item&category_id=154&image_id=3507 2003: http://www.jdm-option.com/photo/index.php?action=item&category_id=137&image_id=3033 2005: http://www.jdm-option.com/photo/index.php?action=item&category_id=116&image_id=1831 In 2008 Cusco website mentions that the Cockpit Tatebayashi ECR33 was displayed at that year's Tokyo Auto Salon: https://www.cusco.co.jp/event/2008/12/post_735.html As of 2021 it appears that the ECR33 demo car ended up being exported to Florida, USA: https://rmcmiami.com/inventory/1996-nissan-skyline-r33-cockpit-tatebayashi-demo-car-big-te06-turbo-endless-brakes-lsd-450hp/ And finally here's Google streetview of the Emorion R garage in 2023 which is amazingly not only still there, but the showroom is still full of various parts in stock and funishings, etc.: https://maps.app.goo.gl/ttyEAZdZLyzermyT9 Apologies for nerding out a bit. I used to love doing this 20 years ago on SAU and got a bit nostalgic for a moment... 😅
