It's finally in !!!!!!:(

What a difference!

Is it faster ? Yep.

Is the gear change faster and easier ? Yep.

Does the boost come on quicker? Yep.

Is the throttle response improved? Yep.

Does it stall easy off idle? Nope.

Do you lose lots of revs between gears? Nope.

Has it lost torque? Nope.

I say all this even with a bad exhaust leak probably killing off some of the power (thanks to me taking the exhaust/gearbox mounting bolts out of the cat and not tightening them back up fully).

The clutch is just as soft and friendly as stock, maybe even softer and grabs very well. It's a fantastic design from Autoclutch, big thumbs up!

Flat 13's here I come!:(:) :)

Congratulations rev210,

I'm glad you happy with the result, goes to show that the hassles of getting it in make it all the sweeter once it's done.

Flat 13's sound like a good target figure, no clutch slip now, but probably more tyre slip.

I'm happy and relieved all at once.

Gotta have a target even if a little optimistic.

First I'll see how close I can get running the same conditions as last time so I can incrementally change stuff as I sort it out.That means:

Changed :

* clutch

* flywheel

Keep the same:

*100+kgs of crap in the boot (no problem there I almost always have it in day to day)

* 8 psi of boost

* Same 205 tyres yum cha cheapo tyres (be it a bit more worn)

I'll probably put the boost up to 10psi as the times improve.

Having said all that I reckon the best fun at the drags is beating all those cars you don't get to race legally on the street but see from time to time.:(

Rev210,

What was your best time before the change? It will be interesting to see what difference is makes on the track. Jeez, they seem like awfully small tyres, I can give you some 15% tread 255/35's for 17" if you have rims to fit them on.

I noticed about .4sec improvement between .5bar and 1bar of boost, but you have to keep the revs lower at launch.

13.8sec a few wed nights ago. Slippery track fried chicken clutch:D

The drama contiunes...

Last night whilst attempting to tighten up the bolts on the cat. converter I managed to break one off! Now the exhaust leak is worse and I'm going to have to go to an exhaust joint to fix it :hellpisd:

It appears my cat. is original as well so I might have to change it's done 90,000+kms now.

Errr... yep stock, its even got the nissan factory heat sheild cover. Does anyone know how much restriction these stockers have?

I'm going down to quick fit in morley to get them to have a look , I doubt they would want to punch a hole in it. I might just get a replacement while I'm there.

Here's another pic of my 'installed' clutch and flywheel

Macka and Rev210,

I have a cat on mine but it is hi-flow, I'm probably polluting the atmosphere just with the shear weight of premium unleaded I use. I don't see the point of a good exhaust system if your still going to leave a large restriction in there.

That's just my opinion, I'd got for hi-flow or straight pipe inside the stock cat.

See'ya

    • I would again like too thank Matt for his help in me sourcing the detachable hard top for the little red car, without Matt's assistance in inspecting it and locking it down, I can guarantee it would have sold before I could get up to see it,  and as that was the only available NC hardtop in Australia, I consider myself extremely lucky on multiple levels To say I'm more that happy would be an understatement And, it is 100% water tight, I drove through torrential rain coming back south, and by torrential, they type of rain that doing 40kph in a 110kph zone was a real thing, and even then, the standing water on the Hwy was deep enough to throw waves I'm also more than happy that the huge "BEASTS" that Matt calls dogs didn't eat me for lunch, I'm sure the sniffs and licks were more to "taste test" me, over being to friendly Now to work out what colour to get it painted, panel match, or gloss black........first world problems are real
    • Actually I might have figured out. Looks like there is a tab according to google images but it's hidden. Silly me.
    • No clips on this one like the other connector. Only that red tab that I can push slightly up.
    • For any loom connector that has an obvious release that resists pushing far enough to unclip, just spray some silicone lube into it. You might also benefit from using a bent screwdriver or small pick to push in the right place at the right angle.
    • Hey all, I went to try and fix my indicator not canceling, but I couldn't remove the clockspring cable under the column so I could twist that green thin. Anyone know how to remove this cable? I see this red tab but didn't have any luck. I was thinking of unscrewing it but wasn't sure if it would cause issues. I did notice for my indicator stalk, 2 out of 3 cables were plugged in but the last cable wouldn't fit in the stalk. I'm getting it's for fog lights. It was like this when I originally pulled it off.
