SAU KART KARNTS Official Times and Placings.

Recommended Posts

Well for those that dont know we had a Go Kart night for the SAU VIC Members tonight at Go Kart Sports in Moorabbin for a bit of a fun activity.

I apparently organised it (i pretty much just said "hey lets have a kart night, here it is..." and eventually posted a date and time 2 nights before hand :( (yeah im organised alright).

Up for grabs was a 700ml bottle of Jim Beam and a small flask of Johnny Walker for the slowest time... which ended up being 1st place gets the big bottle and fastest time got the small bottle because on the race laps my Kart crapped itself and i ended up posting 3 times the time everyone else did  so it was a bit unfair. (or planned???? ;))

Ok so here are the results.

Qualifying::::

1st - Scott with a fastest time of 35.829

2nd - Chris with a fastest time of 35.953

3rd - Michael with a fastest time of 36.409

4th - Aaron with a fastest time of 36.967

5th - Me with a fastest time of 37.055

6th - Snowie with a fastest time of 37.100

7th - Jarrod with a fastest time of 37.737

8th - Adam with a fastest time of 37.765

9th - Davor with a fastest time of 38.400

10th - Zulkarnain with a fastest time of 40.057

11th - David with a fastest time of 40.107

12th - Darren with a fastest time of 40.297

13th - Alan with a fastest time of 40.441

Was some very heated battles going on around the track and a few "friendly" nudges to get people to hurry up and get out the way... some i was a victim to :D

Results for the actual race:::::

1st Place - Scott (i think next time non skyline owners arent allowed a prize ;))

2nd Place - Michael

3rd Place - Adam

4th Place - Aaron

5th Place - Jarrod

6th Place - Davor

7th Place - Chris (setting the fastest lap of 34.857)

8th Place - Snowie

9th Place - Alan

10th Place - David

11th Place - Zulkarnain

12th Place - Darren

LAST but not least - myself.. setting the all time slowest lap of 92.10

The race session saw the times from qualifying drop down dramatically (apart from mine) which made for a great race... had a great time and nice to meet some of the newer members to the club as this was the first SAU thing i have been to in about 5 months :)

Hope everyone had as good a time i did and thanks for everyone that came and made it a great event.

Look forward to the next one.

Well done for the organising and thanks for an awesome evening of racing.

In my defence for qualifying I would like to add, my kart was dying and spluttering before they pulled me in for a change over, near the end of the session.

Was happy to see some of my GT4 practice paid off in the race by clawing a few places back.

Well done to Chris for setting fastest lap and Scott for winning.

Look forward to the next one.

I am sure one of my qualifying laps was slower than your slowest race lap mate!

Yeah all I could smell for hours afterwards was petrol!

Was a whole lot of fun. Even getting taken out at the begining was ok - all part of karting. Got to have some fun with Chris after he tasted water barrier as well.

Congrats to Scott for the win - not bad for a TX5 driver. Look forwards to the next one.

great job mate , didnt expect the results were posted up so fast ! u did good in the qualifying round and dropped during the race, what happenned?

The Kart crapped itself... even off the line it was taking a while to get speed... then after about the 5th lap it just started coughing a spluttering so i had to pull over and then pit it in... still set my fastest lap for the night with it with a 36.xxx (at work now so dont have the sheet) so i was happy with that.

oh yeah pontif i think that was u i slammed into the back of on the last lap of qualifying... they didnt put the yellow light on and i was coming around the first corner full throttle and there was like 5m to brake haha bit of wiplash :(

yeah was great fun... will definately have to do it again soon.

my nose was still sore when i woke up this morning from all the fumes

That was a top night can't wait to do it again. 3rd place was an unexpected bonus for me. Was also good to talk to a few more members and put some faces to name. Cheers to the organizer and everyone that came along

I think you had my kart from qualifying as it spent serveral laps dying and when you accelerated it spluttered. They switched my kart but just told me to park it up back in the row so no doubt someone (maybe you) got it for the race.

I have some red marks on my hip from being battered around in the seat and my very poor drifiting style!

inark - cannot remember the number of the kart but know the one they put me back in was 17 for the qualifying.

Hahaha .. its all good mate ... watch out next time though

We need to plan round 2 of the SAUVGKC (Skylines Australia Victoria Go-Kart Championship) now.

Outdoor track I am thinking as the moorabbin one was a touch too tight for our "I wonder if 3 karts can fit around here at the same time" moves :jump:

haha sounds like a good plan Aaron!

Munkeh - make up a SAU Kart Karnts banner... I DEMAND IT!!!

yeah adam my arms are sore as %*^*... every time i yawn and stretch i almost fall off my chair in pain :)

    • Ok glad you clarified on the frenchy’s options , I was worried about if my oem hoses would fit the new compressor or not if I just bought the bracket/compressor kit ,  didn’t realize they also sold a larger full conversion kit. Hmm may just go oem in that case then to make it easy only because I plan to sell this car to upgrade to a 32 GTR or 34 GTT.
    • Right, here's a video of the basic operation at least.  This is what you can expect day to day when you turn the car on and it boots from standby.  The only thing from a media point of view I haven't gotten working is for it to autoplay plexamp when it turns on from standby (it works from cold boot) but that's more of a plexamp problem as it will autoplay other music players.  Also attached is my one stray cable.  It's part of the screen's wiring adapters but there's just nowhere for it to go in my car.  I've just now done a bit of research and found a matching port on a 2010-2014 head unit with BOSE.  Mine has no BOSE so that's that case pretty much closed I think.  Plugging in the Infiniti AC panel basically did nothing for me, so that's a dead end as well.  Next port of call is to mess with this CANBUS module and see what I can find from it.  I found this resource containing the DBC files for a 2010+ G37 : https://github.com/icecube45/Dash_InfinitiG37/blob/master/InfinitiG37.dbc I'll now have something to go from when I try to extract my CANBUS data so I can see if the HVAC Mode, Fan Speed, Temperature, etc. match and also the gear shifter position.  It's a pretty big assumption that it's just mismatched CAN signals but considering all the devices in the CAN network are talking to each other (AC can be fully adjusted just with no info on screen) it might be a safe one.  I will report back WhatsApp Video 2025-02-26 at 12.49.10.mp4
    • Thanks for that Paul.  Do you think if I posted a picture you'd be able to remember where it went?
    • Sorry Duncan, I didn't get a notification for the replies.  Thanks for responding!  It's a full Android device, but does allow you to use CarPlay/AA as well.  This is the one I bought from NaviRS on AliExpress: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005006368602668.html?spm=a2g0o.order_list.order_list_main.111.59aa1802JDzQ0E - the 2K 8G-256G CAM variant but it seems to have gone up by £170 since I bought it!  My purchase was £307.14.   It's not the fastest thing in the world but performs perfectly adequately.  It stays on standby unless I disconnect the battery and let it power down, then it's just a fairly standard Android bootup time from cold.  The DSP Equaliser is very nice and made the standard stereo system sound pretty decent compared to the stock screen.  Perhaps I can take a video of it when I get a sec. It *allegedly* supports the reverse camera, but I'm yet to get that working.  It has options for reverse cam (a camera unit can be bought separately) or 360 cameras (also bought separately).  To be fair it doesn't seem to detect that the shifter was put into reverse but I'm working on a theory about this as well.  At the moment I'm going without which is a bit annoying considering the car is an absolute canal barge but so far I haven't caused any damage I'll grab a picture of the wire I'm missing later today when I can get outside.  My theory, by the by, is that not only is the head unit different, but the CANBUS network has different signals for the different years.  I think this because I have a spare AC panel from a newer Infiniti G37 (as opposed to my Nissan panel) which wouldn't control anything except the volume when I had it wired up with the stock system.  I'm going to throw it back in and see if the screen will respond to it.  I've just ordered an arduino CANBUS module so I can have a look at the signals going around the car and see if I can spot anything.  I'm thinking if I can work out what it's expecting vs what it's getting I might be able to translate and relay the signal back but so far just a theory anyway. I also found this on my travels, so far the only one that specifically matches my car: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005002822934280.html?spm=a2g0s.imconversation.0.0.33433e5fgttovi If you look at the picture of the before, it has the card reader slot, and the picture of the head unit is exactly the same as the one pictured in my original post.  I asked if they sell the cables separately but sadly they won't.  I didn't want to just buy this one because it's a super old Android version and only dual core - likely slow as hell.
    • As above, you did refill the coolant and burp the system before running it again didn't you?
