Hi, Can anyone confirm that ARP rod bolts (part no 202-6005) will be a direct fit for my RB26 conrods, that are going in my RB25DET? When I made the order, they were advertised as ARP RB26 bolts, but when I recieved them today, they are marked SR20 bolts. I have been told by one performance supplier that these are the wrong size, and others have told me they have used them in their RB25 & 26 without problem. Can anyone help? Thanks.

I was told recently that ARP dont accully make rod bolts for the RB26 and you can use the SR20 bolts, but I was advised against it because they a touch too short(or somthing like that) and to use the tomei ones. Which I got from greenline for about $160-180. This is what I was told when I went to purchase the ARP ones anyway. Hope that helps

The ARP SR20 bolts are a tad shorter but the threads are plenty long enough to engage the entire nut. From memory, an ARP VG30 bolt also fits.

Hi Proengines, - How much risk involved using the SR20 bolts? I'm inclined to send them back to Modyourcar (they are supplied by Rocket Industries), as they said they would give me a refund, but still insisted telling me that SR20 and RB26 bolts are the same. Tomei bolts are only $65 more expensive - I'm not into taking any risks as my engineer is currently rebuilding the engine and I don't want to spend money fixing any mistakes. SR20 bolts&nuts = $210 shipped/Tomei $270 shipped?

Thanks everyone who posted - Just had to be sure

I just did some checking and I have to correct myself. a standard RB26 bolt has an underhead length of 60mm and the ARP SR20 bolts have an UHL of 58.5mm so there is a 1.5mm difference in the length of the bolts. If you fit the bolts to the rod, the ARP protruded 7.3mm from the spotface where the nut seats and the std Nissan bolt protrudes 8.5mm. The nissan nut is 7.8mm thick so the bolt protrudes 0.7mm through the nut. The ARP nut is 9mm thick so the bolt finishes 1.7mm down inside the nut. thats probably a lot of figures but from them I wouldn't use the SR20 bolts.

As I said, we have used the VG30 bolts with no problem, they are part # 202-6004 and work fine. They are a touch longer, I'll attach a photo so you can see.

Exactly and beat me to it as my guys are busy but was going to get them to do same re figures. The other prob is the face of the nut of the ARP SR20 is smaller than the factory nut so in a sense weaker. I would use factory rod bolts or Tomei VG30 might be OK.
