Cleaning the air filter

Does anyone know how to clean the Apexi Air filter?. I heard we shouldnt use water to clean it becuase its dry type air filter.

any suggestions? and how long does this thing last?

ive always just used a vacuum cleaner with a small nozzle attached. im sure there was be something more effective than this though.

Errm.. I just washed mine b4 I read this thread.

Mine (Apexi panel type) doesn't appear to be paper based. It's one of those red coloured cottony type one's.

Anyway, I soaked it in very warm water with some carwash mixed it.

Swiched the filter around heaps, left it soak overnight & in the morn I couldn't see the bottom the the bucket. Got lots of dust, etc out.

Will dry for a day or so & see what happens. 41degs today, so should dry quick!

The Apexi Power Intake that most people use, which is a POD with funnel in the top and is a dry filter, can be vacuumed and/or blown out with compressed air.

Some recommend not to use compressed air close because it will destroy the filter element.

Vaccuum is ur best bet.

hm... i have the HKS pod filter. Any ideas on how to clean this one?? it really needs a clean...

ok never mind.... pulled out the HKS filter, vaccumed it, was still terribly dirty. I thought because of the filters rubbery feel, it would be fine to wet.

So i put it in a bucket of water and it detiriorated instantly. The moment i placed it in the bucket of water, the part i was holding seperated... and i had to pull the rest of the floating blobs out seperately.

i didnt think washing a dry type filter in water sounded like a good idea lol. hence the words dry .

Any further info from other pod filter owners? I need to clean mine. havent done it before.

The Apexi 'Dry' type pod filter aren't meant to last forever, I think its around 30,000k's or so, then you are meant to by a refill kit.

There is someone on here selling the them, just can't remember who.
