Crank angle sensor?

Hi, I'm getting a strange intermitted grinding/rubbing noise comming from the crank angle sensor. When I push on the cam gear cover the noise gets slighty quieter but still there. Anyone had this problem? The car still goes just as hard with no miss firering? Just wanted to get your opinions before i go ripping the crank angle sensor off. Thanks

One of the bearings inside the CAS is shot. I had to check my timing belt one weekend and yanked off my CAS. I happened to spin it and it sounded like little rocks were inside when it turned.

Bumping a thread from 2005 because I'm having a similar issue.

Grinding/rubbing noise from the CAS, very noticeable at 1000-2000rpm 
If I'm driving through a carpark, it's like a constant metal rubbing noise.

Took a video of it if anyone is interested and can confirm it they think it's bearings or not

Once it's off, can you spin it around or something and check for noise?

Buggered bearings are not real hard to feel.
