Did a few searches on this, couldn't find exactly what I was after so here goes.

I've got a 95 R33 GTS-T. Engine mods include full 3 inch zorst, high flow cat, K&N pod and bleed valve set on 10psi (standard turbo). It's got about 133K on the clock and so far it's been largely trouble free (apart from some hassles with the coil packs).

Anyway, got to work on Friday morning and parked. As the engine came back to idle I heard a slight grinding noise. Coming from the turbo side of the engine. Popped the bonnet, had a look and I noticed a little bit of oil had sprayed out where the intake pipe joins on the throttle body. I noticed the exact same thing when the turbo bearings went on my old Diesel 4Runner. I found I can get it to make the same noise if I touch the throttle very slightly at idle, when the engine is hot. I'd also been noticing a bit more of a whine at the very top of the rev range.

The other thing I'm thinking of is it could be something to do with the timing belt. When I had it replaced, it was making a bad grinding noise at idle. Ended up taking it back and getting them to loosen the tensioner, noise went away. I'm saying this coz the noise I'm getting now sounds very similar, but I can't pinpoint exactly where it's coming from. Doesn't explain the oil leak though.

The car seems to be running fine otherwise. I've been keeping it off boost since I noticed these things. So what do ya's think?

Your turbo is not completelty rooted cause it still works, so thats a +ve. Take your intercooler piping off from the turbo outlet and have a look how much oil there is. If there is an excess amount, your seals could be going/gone. How much play is there in your shaft?
