Police would not confirm reports the cars were drag racing.

this is what bugs me the most...

a car torn to bits and in 2 pieces or whatever.... it may not be obvious that they were drag

racing, but its obvious they were speeding well over the limit for that to happen.

throw in a nissan - and its instantly a drag... that said - you cant really blame the media either.

last night on the way back into the city from the southside, a white 33 gtst with stripes

plates 411 H** tried to go me - absolute d!ckhead!! kept his eyes on me, and not

on the road and constantly rev'd the car...

kept driving and he eventually got the picture...

Thank god no one but those in the cars were hurt and/or killed.

But please think of the real victims, those of the family who have suddenly lost someone who made a silly mistake and now will never be able to see again.

Yes it was stupid and no I will not be hypocritical and say that I have never done this sort of thing, but still no one deserves to lose thier life. This will certainly make me think next time my brain decides to do something stupid, which is become less of an occurance with each one of these reports.

But still my condolances to the freinds and family of those who have lost someone definatly before their time should have been due.

its sad to hear...i was told that the brakes screeched for about 5secs before impact.

Brakes or tyres after brakes locked up? So what happened exactly - if the two cars were dragging then how did they collide with such force, presumably they would have been side by side or something?

Sad, but happens too often...

Dickheads with something to prove...

I think we need a Skyline Oath, not to drag on the streets and those that try, post them up on a Sticky as the dickheads that they are..then they might get the picture.

You wanna race take it o Willowbank....

Cause drag racing on the street is like competing in the special olympics if you get my drift...

yea but I mean by the same token things like...."skids" and other "shenanigans" that occur can be just as dangerous...I think street racing has the worst rep but I must say mountain runs and some drifting activity that occurs is pretty unsafe as well....ppl get seriously hurt doing that as well...it just doesnt get the same critisism or publicity that street racing does.

my 2c

I think ALL of it should be off the street...

traffic light drags burnouts in public whatever, take it home...hell the only skids I used to do were in my own street (the bastards re-surfaced last year so they are finally gone after 5 years...)

Its all about common sense, the sad thing is it is not that common.

As for mountain runs, well if it is a hill climb event fine, if its at night with inexperienced drivers trying to prove something then I have a problem.

I don't have a problem with the 0-60 traffic light jokes I pull on people, its when you start speeding its stupid...nothing like reving a wanker in an excel up at the lights only to watch them keep going...I shouldn't do it I know...but hey they are the ones breaking the law!!

i reckon the oath is a good idea.........

i also reckon that the fines incured on 'hooning' should go to funding speedway facilites..........that would hopefully prevent these things...........though that would be in an ideal world.

any draft ideas for the oath? i'll start with the first rule.........

Rule one: No Poofters.

    • Yeah, hard to find and a pain in the ass to change with the transverse engine. I’ve worked on a GTiR before and it’s not a job I’d ever want to do again. theres a company in South Africa that makes RS3 gearbox adaptors for the AWD SR20 including gearbox mounts, so I could modernise it and go a dual clutch with paddles. For now tho, it ticks all the boxes. Super cheap, can throw the kids and their junk in the back, and SR20 that I can turbo cheaply, a CVT that’s not a dog’s breakfast like the V35, and has 80% interchangeable parts with stuff I can source from the wreckers cheaply…. But it’s still unique. I love the wagon back of the Autech version. It’s cheap enough that I can buy another stock manual FWD Primera with SR20VE, swap the gearbox to the N15 pulsar short gear ratio box, swap out the brakes to the R32 ones I pulled off my 32, register it on club plates and take it racing. $1300 shipping from NZ. Heaps of parts and aftermarket builders for transverse SR20’s in NZ.
    • Hard to say, just pop the rocker covers off and have a look if you think it's cammed. You probably need to replace the valve cover gasket/half moons anyways.
    • From my youth: GTi-R clutch change is a massive pain. The gearboxes are fragile? But the car is super cool and I want one 😢
