I did a search and not much came up about removing the plastic............ i have tried heating the headlight up as you mentioned but the plastic is actually attached to the black backing inside the headlight....the only way i can think of doing it , is to remove the plastic from the outside.

im getting there.....not complete yet. i took them to a guy who has a special oven. the black piece is held in with screws to the plastic cover. ive marked out on the plastic what has to be cut off and they have to go to a local plastic factory to be cut. the hard part is going to be sealing glass lense to the black plastic and around the outside of the headlight. once that is done the headlights will have to go back to the headlight guy to reseal the unit. a much bigger job than i thought. but im determined to them properly. will post pics when the headlights are finished and some pics of them on my car with my new front bar.

ive taken my headlights to guy who specialises in headlights in my town (coffs harbour). he actually told me he can make the headlight plastic like new again and includes a rubbing them back and a few other processes. but it was too late for me, i already drilled holes in my plastic covers. he has cut my plastic covers off and on the black plastic insides, he has made clear poly carbon to be glued infront of the glass lense so it is all still a sealed unit.

he has done a fantastic job. only one has been completed and i should be picking them up this week. when i do, i will take some photos and put them up in this thread. i am worried about the headlights not being flush with the body work. im in the process of getting new bar so it will be about 2-3 weeks before i can take pics of everything put back together. if im not happy about the headlights being flush i will have to get some custom work done to make the headlights meet the bodyline. you'll have to tell me what you all think when its all finished!!!

looks really good gives the car a combo look of BMW vs Nissan.... when you re-seal them make sure that they are completely dry as condensation will create more moisture... also Sikaflex is the best sealant it is expensive but worth it as it is probably the only true water proff stuff out there

DUSH: No i dont think you can buy aftermarket headlights for R33. I had mine modified and it cost me $130 each..........If your interested in my headlights i will sell the pair for $400 ono or swap.

I had them fully dryed and sealed yesterday and i can provide receipts for the work done on them. The reason i want to sell them is im not feeling i like the look of them.........i think it is because they are so different.............It might grow on me and it might not but either way i dont mind if the sell them or not. I had a few people come up and say it looks like beemer cross nissan and they really liked it cause it was different and told me i should keep em. But if your interested pm me.

they should be completly sealed now.......i will be washing and polishing car tomorrow so i will see then if any water gets into them.

The ploy carbon inserts were sealed with sikaflex from behind the headlight, then the whole unit was resealed. The problem i had was that where the black edging that was put around the inserts met up, the guy did not seal it together so i did a neat job of it myself.

Also i had a look inside the edging thinking he would have sealed it into the inserts but he only did it in corners. so i put some sikaflex inside the edging. The only reason a tiny bit of water got into it in the first place was when it was at the panel beaters and he washed my car. I specifically told him not wash it or if he did, not to get water near the headlights. But obviously he never listened to me and i was quite pissed off.
