itbmils
Guys can I get an R34 6 speed box into an R32 (easy?) also - any idea how much I should pay for the box ? Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/67887-r32-gtr-6-speed/ Share on other sites
R31Nismoid
I think its a straight swap, if anything some slight modification. but a 6 speed i wouldnt envisage would be cheaper than 6-7k to begin with Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/67887-r32-gtr-6-speed/#findComment-1259014 Share on other sites
Beer Baron
if you want 6 speed look at the options from Trust, HKS and OS giken. or if you are made of money, Hollinger 6speed sequential. better option than paying a lot of money for a second hand R34 box. ferni
You could get a new 34 box for around 14k from Nissan Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/67887-r32-gtr-6-speed/#findComment-1259132 Share on other sites
NXTIME
Trust box would be well over 10K More like 15K. Same with HKS, Sequential versions are even more. I don't like the OS giken gearsets. Why do you want an R34 6 speed? Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/67887-r32-gtr-6-speed/#findComment-1259332 Share on other sites
GTR-Ben
From what I was told, the R34 Getrag has a different Bellhousing.. seems odd since it's bolted to an RB26DETT though. Guest Mashrock
Guyscan I get an R34 6 speed box into an R32 (easy?) also - any idea how much I should pay for the box ? i have a trust 6 speed for sale at the moment. needs rebuiling tho one gear needs replacing and dogs are a bit worn on some gears. but i'd part with it for 5000/ Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/67887-r32-gtr-6-speed/#findComment-1260036 Share on other sites
Guest Mashrock
and the r34 box is a bit of a hastle to fit up. the box is a few inches longer than the 32 box, so your rear shaft will have to be modified to fit. and there are a few other things to look at aswell. i was going to do this swap myself untill i found out how much it was going to cost. NXTIME
Mashrock, What happened to your Trust box? I take it that 3rd gear went? Did you get a quote for the rebuild? Email me if you like: charlies (at) mpx.com.au Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/67887-r32-gtr-6-speed/#findComment-1260077 Share on other sites
Guest Mashrock
first went. and 5-6 wouldnt select. 2-3-4 were still fine. all bearings were knackered. clearly wasnt looked after in jappas. but other than that all was fine. i can take the gearset over to my mate who was going to do the rebuild and get a quote if u like. but i was getting it all done for cost. Guest Mashrock
true that. thats pretty carbon there haha. it was more going to be a cost issue than anything else. all i had to trade was a trust box for everything i needed. and couldnt get all the info i needed in time so a standard box went in Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/67887-r32-gtr-6-speed/#findComment-1260341 Share on other sites

NXTIME
How does the Trust 6 speed drive on the street? Is it a real 'dog' to drive? What clutch? Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/67887-r32-gtr-6-speed/#findComment-1262286 Share on other sites
Guest Mashrock
it wasnt too bad on the street. sure makes some good noises. i didnt think my car had bov's untill i swapped for a std box and found out. i'm using a os twin plate, which has the std size spline, Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/67887-r32-gtr-6-speed/#findComment-1262313 Share on other sites
PurpleR32
Dont get me wrong, you can Definetly tell there are no syncros. You have to rev it a little to get it into 1st (otherwise you end up with a crunch) Gear changes require a reasonalbly firm hand You also have to rev match when down shifting, so as not to crunch. You have to hold it in gear when reversing (otherwise it pops out) But you just cant beat the whine of a dog box and the lightning quick gear changes.....did i mention the sound farken awsome!!! I am using an OS triple at the moment Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/67887-r32-gtr-6-speed/#findComment-1262330 Share on other sites
Guest Mashrock
i never had trouble getting 1st.. reverse was a pain in the ass tho. kept popping out even with you holding it firm. but i have abuck wild diff also which wouldnt have helped gotta love the whine. and also the people at the lights looking at your car thinking there is something wrong. then you show them what a rev limit dump looks like with race tyres.
