Roy
How bloody good is this racing:thumbsup: Weber was a bit too keen...but at least he was having a go:( Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/67901-malaysian-gp/ Share on other sites
ECR033
Gotta agree - the racing was really good tonight, although I think Webber was a little hard done by. Fisi wasn't on the racing line, his tyres were gone, he braked too late and he slid into Webber despite the fact that Webber gave him enough room (and was turning away from him at the point of impact). It was a shame, as he would have been on for a podium finish if that didn't happen. Good to see Toyota up on the podium though Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/67901-malaysian-gp/#findComment-1258905 Share on other sites
Silver-Arrowz
Top stuff! Fisi was not on the race line. Webber left room and Fisi locked up on the dirty side. No way Fisi had a chance. No tyres, dirty line = sh*t all grip. Fisi slided into Webber, Webber didn't close into him. Didn't expect Toyota to do so well so soon! Even more surprising that Jarno out paced Ralf! Beer Baron
Ralf is a bit of a menace isn't he? His 'move' on webber looked like he was a 12 year old playing gran turismo. the old use the other car to slow down trick. he came sliding up the inside all out of shape and just ploughed into him. nice one ralf. The Fisi incident was dissapointing to say the least. Definately Fisi's fault (for the reasons stated above). Having said that, webber probably could have played it a little smarter, but having just passed fisi and being under attack from hedfeld it seems he thought that he couldn't afford to be held up behind fisi any longer. if webber had held back a little fisi probably would have outbraked himself anyway. all this race did for me was prove that a webbber podium is just a matter of time. EDIT: I think Roy means 3rd on the points table. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/67901-malaysian-gp/#findComment-1259096 Share on other sites

He is a talentless git who is there because he has a talented brother , period! Actually speaking of talentless gits JV had another fabulous weekend ! Trulli will kick Ralf from pillar to post all year, mark my words! Fisi was 100 percent at fault, Webber had been closing on him at over a second a lap, was he going to hold him out for another twenty laps? No chance. The sensible thing would have been to carry on and finish in fifth and go to Bahrain leading the championship! This championship will be won by the driver who uses the thing between his ears the best this year. Beer Baron
Ralf has always been a menace, remember Melbourne three? years ago, forgot to brake into turn one taking out eight cars I think in the process!! remember it? I was on the inside of turn one against the fence standing inline with the 50m braking marker. it happend in front of my face!! in fact a piece of rubens' wing landed about 1m in front of me. Ralf again proved that when he can't pass someone fair and square he just takes them out. or maybe he hopes they'll be so afraid that they'll let him through. either way he really has a bad attitude on the track. Fisi was 100 percent at fault, Webber had been closing on him at over a second a lap, was he going to hold him out for another twenty laps? for sure, fisis's only real enemy at that point of the race was himself. he was bound to f**k up sooner or later and out brake himself into one of the hairpins. it was just unfortunate that he happend to be trying to get up the inside of webber when he did. I really feel for webber cause that podium was all his for the taking. I was also pleased that he didn't take any of that crap from ralf. It was surprising to see heidfeld trying to put moves on Webber like that, but as always Webber doesn't pull over for anyone. Webber will be on the podium before long. no doubt. Frink
you'd think that with all his experience in F1, fisi would be trust worthy enough to place your car on the outside of him in an attempt to pass. he should have known that would've ended in tears. (tisk, tisk) having said that, webber should have done what kimi did. waited and braked earlier and pull an over-under move. anyone else have their heart in their mouth when webber and heidfeld were dicing? (tisk, tisk) you'd think that wouldn't you.... I think both webber and fisi wanted third so bad (add heidfeld and ralf to that too) that they both made questionable judgement calls. having said that, webber should have done what kimi did. waited and braked earlier and pull an over-under move. yeah, I heard martin brundle saying that. the difference is though that Kimi could afford to wait because 1. not challenging for podium. 2. did not have a feisty nick heidfeld all over his ass. Webber (rightly) thought he couldn't afford to be held up by Fisi any longer, otherwise heidfeld would have had the both of them. anyone else have their heart in their mouth when webber and heidfeld were dicing? I was barely able to sit in my seat. I was scared sh1tless that they would take each other out, but they both raced hard and fair. Nick's moves were a little bold, but providing he knows where to draw the line I don't mind so much. Snowman
I must say some of that racing last night was awesome and what we all stay up late hoping to see. The bit where Ralf and Webber touched, Heidfield past both of them, Webber got Heidfield back, Ralf got Heidfield back then Heidfield got Ralf back all in a couple of corners was awesome. Only milli-meters in some of the moves. Only disappointing thing on the coverage was we didn't get to see Webbers pass on Fisi before they crashed out. As far as my opinion on the Webber/Fisi accident goes - as it stands Fisi locked up and slid into Webber. However - even if Fisi didn't lock up I think they would have hit as Webber moved in a lot closer than what he did when Ralf tried a similar thing earlier. There was no room for another car on the inside had Fisi made the move stick. And as much as Fisi was obviously slower they were still racing and he had the right to hold his spot. We have seen in F1 how hard it can be to pass at times even if the car behind is quicker. Still - one thing is for sure. Seems there will be plenty of late Sunday nights this year as we genuinely seem to have a competative season ahead of us in F1. Roy
Yeh i was referring to DC/Red Bull in the Constructers Championship. My thinking was if his tyres were so bad, then Weber should have been perhaps a little bit smarter about letting Fisi outbrake himslef, especially since it was the same corner where he almost came unstuck a few laps earlier. That said it was good to see him havbing a go, cant knock a bloke for trying:) Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/67901-malaysian-gp/#findComment-1259558 Share on other sites

Sydneykid
My 20 cents worth........ This tyre thing is a joke, half the field were trying for good tyre wear. Sounds like my uncle who used to brag (all the effen time) that he could get 40,000 miles out of a set of tyres. Next they will put a fuel limit on and turn it into an economy run. I am not a Ferrari fan, but it peeeed me off when Rubins retired because of no tyres left. And the pit stops are so boring with no tyre changes, just fill 'er up and drive off. Kor'axis
Webber was shafted BAD! Also good to see some racing at the front as opposed to last year.... BOORING. i wouldn't mind seeing Trulli or Alonso take out the Championship! If webber doesn't get shafted to many times he should end pretty close to 1st, BMW is a solid car. Roy
I miss the whole engineering side of qualifying, where they had the crs setup on the brink of disaster to knock out one flying lap...it was like a chess game where they would sit and monitor the conditions to see when was the ebst time to get a quick lap down. But not anymore, cant touch the cars after qualifying, cant replace the engine, cant change tyres:( The rules are a joke, and as a punter that was at the OZ GP, you see even less fo the cars on the track now. The teams that are allowed to run a 3rd car do so on Firday to get some data whiel all the bug guns sit there and twiddle their thumbs:( It will be interesting to see if JV can get his act together. Looking at the guys pedigree it would seem that onse upon a time he was a great punter, but perhaps the enthusiasm is gone, or simply the car doesnt behave how he likes. Apparantly Mansell and Prost in the Ferrari days liked the cars setup completely different:confused: I hope he gets his act together, im a bit of a fan and would like to see him hang around. But looking at DC:) He should have left McLaren 3-4 years ago. Teh change would have bene good for him, as of late ive been reading a bit about the politics of McLaren which meant he was never going to have a chance there:( He should have done the egotistical F1 thing and walked out and gone to another team.
