Hi guys. I just bought a black R31 coupe. It's got a RB20 non-turbo engine with a auto tranny. Pathetic I know, that's why im posting this. I would be doing all the work myself (with some help). How much work is it to put a RB25DET engine/5-speed box into my R31? Will it bolt straight in or is it alot of work? How about an RB26DETT? Obviously more work, but will a RB26 fit? I know RB25's are alot cheaper, but which model engine should I buy, a series I or II or NEO (R34)? Are the gearbox's from all RB25's interchangeble, or do I need to get the same box from the same series of engines? Also will the stock drivechain cope with the extra horsepower and will the 4WS get in the way at all? Any help at all would be greatly appreciated guys.

I have HR31 Passage

I have rb25det 98 model in mine, drops in now worries as too does the rb26dett, but gearboxes will need some moddying to fit in..other than that, shes all apples!

I wish I had chosen the rb26dett, not the 25 option, so throw or save more money go the RB26DETT, trust me!

yea few guys at the moment are in the process of puitting in Neo RB25's ..its very possible to do ..and quite easy... depend on your wallet.. i would go the rb25 neo ..and get the larger import struts ..coz as far as i know the non turbo version have the smaller front brakes compared to the turbo versions.... seriously stops u from bolting on R32 and upward front calipers.....

check out the r31skylineclub like Abo Bob suggested.. and do a search plenty of topics on transplants...

all the best with it. u got a nice clean coupe to play with there

Matt

you should have no worries putting a rb25 in that.... if i can get an rb20det in the fornt of my 1966 skyline gt you should be able to get a rb25/26 twin turbo it yours..... just a matter of mounting.. :boinkcar:
