GTR Gearbox repairer??

Can any one recommend a good (cheap) gearbox specialist in Sydney (western)?

Fifth gear is crunching when changed slightly fast. I also drained the oil and found a small rectangular piece of metal in the sump. It wasn't a broken tooth.....

Has anyone replaced syncro's before?? Is it a job that a hobby mechanic could do??

Hi Matt

There is place in bankstown called The Gearbox Factory 97902984. They have been building gearboxes for over 30 years and are very good. It will cost you around $1200 plus $650 r&r to replace all syncro's, seals and bearings.

I had to replace my gearbox because the gears were burnt. So I bought a brand new gearbox from Just Jap for $3200, which is a 1998 spec gearbox from nissan.

Not cheap, but atleast it will be complete.

Is the $1200 to remove/fit the box? I have it out already =). You say that the 98 spec box is $3200...does that mean its a 6speed?

the 98 spec box is just a S3 R33 GTR 5 speed, i bought one direct from nissan for the same price

I was quoted $620 if it is a folk problem and $950 for an enitire rebuild.(Gearbox Factory)
