Hi everyone,

I'm not sure if this question is supposed to be post on this thread, if not, can the mods please kindly move it to an appropriate thread. Many thanks for the help!

Anyways, I assume almost everyone here knows the infamous Hybrid FMIC Kits.

A couple of very generic questions, so please bear with me.

- How much are those kits actually going for? Cheapest I mean.

- Anyone knows the cheapest for those non-branded types?

- There's actually a group buy in SAU for "Hybrid" copies. Has anyone actually purchased and tried to fit the kit yet?

- Pardon me for my ignorance but how many bends and hoses are actually required for a R33 RB25DET kit?

- Does the kits for R32 differs from R33 and R34? i.e. the bends and length of pipes?

Sorry for being a n00b but alas, I am one!

Appreciate anyone's input  , and thanks in advance.

G'day Benny hows it goin?

I think the cheapest Ive seen the copy Hybrid kits for are around $800.00 and the real Hybrid kits for around $1200.00. I got a copy cooler of you but I havent got the piping yet cos been getting Fu(ked around a bit. So dont know if it fully fits yet. UAS are selling a piping kit for around $620.00 might go there. I thnk most of those fake Hybrid kit come with 3 pipes only. The piping being 2.5 inch with reducers coming out of the inlet and outlets. I would assume the r32,33,34 would be similar piping as they all have the crossover inlet manifold.

I would also like toknow how anyone ins going with the fitting of the fake coolers and piping?

Oi Benny you try and start a piping kit group buy?

hey just be careful with the Hybrid coolers.. I've heard ppl say there very good, but recently i've heard alot and seen alot for my self that they make a whistling noise becuase the fins aren't straight on the core... if i were u i'd just buy a trust cooler which go for abt $1600... u pay for what u get...

Thanks for the kind inputs everyone!

Peter:

I do have the intention of bringing the full kit along with the coolers actually. But I have seen group buy organisers getting flamed over fitment problems and also the inconsistencies of the "kit" as one or two parts getting missing etc. In all honesty, the coolers and piping kits come from China, therefore I do hope buyers from other group buy/s realise that sometimes discrepancies do occur when manufacturers send to any group buys organisers their orders. Such things, although the onus are on group buys organisers to ensure the customers get what they pay for, sometimes its really outta organisers control.

However, participating in group buys have their own merits too. Such as lowered prices, competitive price wars amongst group buys organisers and also an alternative to mainstream brands which usually cost far over most of our budgets.

I personally do not speak for anyone, I'm just offering my .02cents worth of views of how I see it.

heehee ...

You are all so right about getting what you pay for! I stand affirm in what you said. Having gone thru bad patches over purchases of lousy non-car related items!

Although getting close substitutes of a particular brand cannot ensure the same performance at the same level, however said, there are still factors that shown significant increased in performance wise for the copies as "compared" to OE parts.

Doing a comparison between the aforementioned branded product versus the copies, there's a significant gap in pricing wise. This would be the case whereby the judgement will be left for buyers to gauge on whether would they want to fork out a sum of money to buy a product that is manufactured thru research and developement or a copy that is manufactured by copying the branded one and saving on the research and development cost.

Most views go two or more ways, it really depends on how buyers see it.

I do agree with what you say about "you get what you pay for" however I would say any larger intercooler is better than the standard unit copy or not.

Of course, I stand with you on that!

How else would people want to buy big cores like 600*300*76!

heehee ... Still waiting for your piping Peter?

Based on the above pictures, I would like to seek help from kind forum users on the entirety of the kit.

There're a couple of attached pictures, upon viewing, please do let me know what is missing from the kit.

In comparison with Hybrid kits, please do note that Hybrid kit are using 450*300*75 core size, whereas the pictures above shows a core size of 600*300*76. Therefore the kit piping are significantly different from Hybrid.

The above shows a couple of kits ranging from S1X to R33s to REX etc. As I am not familar with the different car models and I do not have the luxury to actually drive one and know the mechanical basics, any inputs would be great!!

Thanks in advance!

Well i just picked up a greddy v-spl intercooler kit from the post office today. same price as a genuine hybrid kit. (a little over $1100 from nengun)

Looks like quality stuff to me, but then again, this is my first kit so i have nothing to compare to.

Anyway, im happy with it, it comes with a replacement washer bottle which is a nice touch, and theres a greddy cutout that you use to rice up the cooler (or anything else really)
