i've been told that the lever under the bonnet actually is a secondary bonnet restraint. I've subsequently seen cars clear scrutineering at maserati club track days with stock restraints.

chef, I've seen that interpretation in NSW too, apparently only for post 1980 cars I'm not sure why? The first restraint is the main lock (opened by the in cabin handle), the secondary restraint is the 2nd catch on the bonnet that holds it closed when you pop the first

Ive only seen that fly when you have a bonnet hinged like a 240Z, with a traditionally hinged bonnet they typically dont typically accept it...

Every club seems to be different, even with the same chief scrutineer. Bottom line, keep a decent restraint and you are halfway there. WRX club even requires leather upper shoes!!
