thanks for whoring my thread guys  just j/k but seriously, if u gonna do it right get splitfires or replace all coilpacks...save u the hassle of the same thing happening all over again. On that note...is there any noticeable gains from splitfires comprared to normal standard ones?

hehehehe, sorry nismo..

um.. i heard you have to gap down your sparkies?? from like 1.1mm to 0.8mm?? Apparently there are some gains to be had here... but i don't quite understand... or even know if you HAVE to gap down...

I don't know if you would notice a power increase with splitfires because most people install them when their stock coil packs are stuffed which means they going from something not working properly to fixed rather than from working to working better.

The reason you gap your spark plug down to 0.8 mm is because when you increase the boost a little you need it to maintain a strong spark. If your car is stock and you are doing no mods to it then leave the gap at 1.1. If you are stock now but will increase the boost later then gap them down when you are in there because it's a bit of effort to get into it unlike older cars where you just pull the leads off and unscrew the plugs.

is it one of those mods your going to have to eventually have to do once you want to increase power from stock (or once the stock ones crap out which, from the forums, it seems an inevatability)?
