Are the S-SAFC2 easy to tune and will I get much of a power increase? Need one for a ca18det. All thats on the car is intercooler, turbo back exhaust. Just didnt know if I will need after market injectors, fuel pump, etc. Still want the car to be reliable but want more power and I know the CA's are good for quite a bit of power. They are piggy back are they easy to install? Im from Tassie any help or ideas would be awsome.

THANX

Tonight I just had my R33 GTST dyno tuned by Unigroup. Mods were turboback exhaust, k&n panel, apexi safc2 and avcr. The results surprised me quite a bit given the relatively 'stockish' mods, but im more happy that the safc tune managed to smooth out an irratic power curve ...

The dyno tune took about an hour and costed me $200 for safc/avcr/base timing, I'm quite happy with it...

shoey,

What was causing the big drop in power over 5000rpm? I have the same type of mods as you and my car is suffering from the same problem, so I am looking at getting an SAFC fitted soon. Was it running too rich or was it a problem with detonation?

Cheers

Simon.

Simon,

What Yavuz (the tuner) explained to me was, under the boost curve for the 'standard' setup (ie the avcr was setted to self learn 10psi, with no rpm specific learning, etc), the avcr started building up to 10psi at the 6k rpm mark very sharply, so the ecu backed off, as a result the boost dropped off a bit and the ecu let power pick up again.

they're easy to install, just take it slowly and be sure to run through the config BEFORE starting :D I have a near stock engine (pod and std exhaust at the time) with a bigger pump, and when I had mine tuned i saw ~20rwkw more, but obviously that varies between cars :D mine was running waaaayy too rich because of the pump, so the safc did the trick :D

I recently put an SAFC into my girlfriend's 180 (w/ CA18DET) and was none too difficult.

Good luck :)
