We all know the RB26's are a GREAT engine and its something different however you would want decent suspension, better brakes (no point going fast if you cant put the power down, corner and stop!), gearbox / clutch etc

You could probably have yourself a reliable engine with decent mods and ecu for 18K?? Nothing too hardcore and then spend the remaining on all the non engine stuff!

yeah there are no problems there, brakes slotted, steel lines, upgraded booster, and gone to twin pistons cals, Koni strusts, koni suspension, king sprins, 2" lower, nolaphane? bush kits through out, aswell as panard rod, sway bars and two strut braces. sooo i think suspension and brakes are sorted :)

plus when i get a pair of 19" rims, i'll upgrade rotor size,

so you are thinking 18Gs for cams, turbos after the half cut? or including the half cut? 8gs for a h/c, sorry for sounding stupid, but i got now idea atm an RB part prices.

Good to see people actually THINKING before modding a car :)

No point going fast if you cant stop!

I have NFI on prices either. Would it cost 10K to rebuild a reliable RB26 with a single turbo conversion?

say another 8K on on turbos / cams. FMIC etc? Since you dont have to do all the brakes and suspension you would then spend the rest on decent ECU and tuning and all the misc bits and pieces?

I would probably go speak the the guys at Hyperdrive. They seem to know nissan engines

Hey thanks for that, even thinking about mini tubs i can get 245s out the back, but i would like something i little wider for slicks.

Hyperdrive....... where bouts r they in perth?

ok..... so wots a better choice, and R33 or R32 and why?

R33. Purely because they are newer and have different cam specs and tuning. The power output is the same but there is more torque. It helped compensate for the increase in weight of the R33. The only drawback is that the computer is sealed an you will not be able to modify it. This won't be a problem if you are going aftermarket.

What about RB30det?

For the cost of a 2nd hand rb26 you could build one and not have to worry about the condition of a old motor.

Imo probably cheaper and a lot less mucking around for a better result.

Or sell yours and buy one already done
