I cleaned my BOV yesterday... took it all apart washed out all the oil residue, and put her back together again....

and now i have lost the flutter sound however i noticed that my lag when changing gears has significantly reduced... IS THIS NORMAL?

Or did i forget something when i put it back together?

anyways, im happy with the performance increase :D

the flutter happens when your blow of valve is close or disconnected and boost travels back through the turbo > intercooler > out the airfilter.

from what you said, it could be the tension on the bov. Check to see if its set to lose or tight. if its lose then theres your answer if its set to tight then it could be set in plumback mode

check out the tension on the bov and get back to us.

ps: the flutter isnt good for the turbo.

my 3 cents

Man why'd you have to say that! You're gona get an all out newb war of ‘flutter = bad or ok’ argument in yet another thread.... lol

LOL.. yeha i know d flutter isnt good....

And i dont think there really is a way to adjust the tension...

All it is, is a valve with a spring pusshing the valve against a plate onto the plenum...

Unless by rotating the BOV housing as so it begins to screw off the bracket it attatched onto????

Is this how you adjust it?

PS.. I am happy without the flutter sound... was becoming a little too much....

so will keeping the BOV how it is now harmfull in anyway? i'm guessing not!

Perhaps i put it back together wrong :) it all flew all over the place when i took it off.. wasnt expecting that much bounce in it lol...

i still get a nice CRISP tishh sound.. and i mean very crisp now :D

see the screw on top of the bov.

turning that clockwise TIGHTENS the bov, making it harder to open

turning that anti-clockwise LOOSENS the bov, making it easier to open.

so my guess is that when you pulled it apart and cleaned and put it back together, you didn't tighten it as much...

Or it was just fithy and wasn't working properly.

I hope you lubed it back up before putting it all back together..

WD40 will be fine..

although, a little oil will make it's way there so I guess it will be lubed anyway.

Don't worry.

you put it together fine.

that is how it is supposed to work.

When i took cleaned my a/m bov i too noticed an increased in performance. My revs was better and my engine used to stall everytime i put my foot off the clutch, now it doesnt at all. There is no evident of flutter anymore. However, I did tighten the screw on top of the bov. This was on an sr20 though but i dont think this mattered.

now i have lost the flutter sound however i noticed that my lag when changing gears has significantly reduced... IS THIS NORMAL?

:)

Yes this mean its working properly, leave the fluttering for the butterflies....
