Well I have been lurking for along time now ;) I have been envious and jealous as all hell that every one here talks about "their" cars and I aint got one.

Whilst I have had the money to buy a 10g 2nd Hand Falcon or Holden they just dont compare to the Skyline :burnout:

I have been waiting for months now for a local importer who works for TAU, and as he mainly deals with the surfs and seems to spend more time in Japan than here.

I dont think he has been taking me seriously.

So there is not a Import car yard in Brisbane I have not been hovering around like a vulture :(

Because I know what they sell for in yen as well as all the costs to get them on our roads I was hesitant to pay Car yard prices.

So I have found one and bar a catastrophe it will be mine by Friday or Monday.

93 R33 GSTt Auto

46208 km

$14500

Have taken it for a test drive and crawled over every square inch of it.

It will do for me.

Will be puting a deposit on it tomorrow

Yiiiipppppyyyyy :D

From what I can tell its just wax from buffing, the white stuff under the edge of the light.

I had my brother (An Auto Sparky) and a turbo shop have a look at it.

It would seem that the K's are not genuine. The numbers on the odometer are not dead straight.

And the Brake disk have a to much wear for the K's on the clock.

But they seem to think it was a good buy for the price as the Turbo Shop owner use to import them him self.

That is a bit of a worry but going on the wear and tear as I have seen on 100k ones its no wear near that.

Seat are in excellent condition the brake and accelerator rubbers have no wear. The suspension is still rock hard and I could not see that any evidence of crash repair. All bolts are wear they were from factory.

But for the price which I was able to get him down to $14500, I am prepared to get it. In fact I have paid 90% with the rest to be paid on Saturday when I pick it up.

In the last few months I have looked at lots and test driven many and comparing it to the others it seems quicker that some of the modified ones.

I have done several full boot runs at both low and high speed and not a spec of unburnt fuel and smoke comes out.

There are no flat spots and (this is the bit I like) it smokes both rears on take of with a bit of old ride the break and dump (Auto).

I had a run with a late model XR6 from 100k's and steadily pulled away to 160 where I backed off hehehe

I have wound it out to 180k's on the freeway and its smooth as a babies bum.

I would love to have had another couple of thou to spend but as it is the budget has gone over what I wanted to spend.

I going to spend an extra $300 odd to get one of those extended Gold 3year warranty's that cover cost's of parts up to certain amounts.

EG: $750 on brakes etc.

I really feel that if I pass this one up it, will some time before I find another in as good a condition. Let alone price.

The person who said he could get me one imported for around the 12K mark has not been as help as he was when I first met him. And even if he finds me one in Japan I think the wait and fear of not getting a good once over before parting with the folding money a bit scary.

So he is putting on some new tyres, wheel alignment and a few other things atm and I will be picking it up on Saturday.

So I will be an official R33 GTSt owner on Saturday and am looking forward to my first cruise with you guys.

Just have a to find a way to sleep till then :)

:cheers::wave:;)

    • Yes...but look at the numbers. There is a tiny tiny fraction of the number of Joules available, compared to what is used/needed. Just because things are "possible" doesn't make them meaningful.
    • Thanks for taking the time to post that ! If anything changes or happens please do update us.
    • Somehow Vertimass/Oak Ridge National Labs has figured out a catalyst that can convert ethanol into C9-C10 hydrocarbons in basically a single step without ending up with a bunch of ethylene or similar waste products: https://patents.google.com/patent/WO2023224867A1/en I still don't think anything like this will keep us from needing to transition to EVs regardless along with all kinds of other electrification, but things like this will go a long way towards alleviating the problem of how to electrify things like planes. Renewable diesel is seemingly an easier problem as well, Chevron is already running refineries for the stuff and the primary feedstock is tallow and other waste fats from agriculture.
    • Ok so I have sorted everything with my uniclutch and  i can offer up a bit of feedback and some things that might help others.    I found problems with factory damper line. Weird shit and had trouble with peddle adjustment    I used this https://au.gktech.com/products/r33-gts-t-skyline-braided-clutch-line?_pos=2&_sid=22b01b9b9&_ss=r Also when adjusting peddle leave a bit of play. You can get into a over stroke condition easy.. Make sure you can push the slave forward after adjusting to confirm fluid can return to master then you will need to pump it up heaps…..not sure why but that’s how it is.    last thing the splined adapter is machined perfectly. If your input shaft is old like mine was I would put a bit of valve grinding paste on it and stroke it like a 15 year old. Just to give it a tad more clearance and to better match it to the spline.    reason is on a near flat shift I have had situation where the peddle returns a millisecond after you lift from the clutch. No slip or anything but I reckon this is due to tolerance on the spline being way tighter than stock clutch and binding for a sec. I think this will go away but also my spline was old. Box is old so I guess I should have checked better. It’s a super neat fit.    it feels light as and holds awesome without any noise
