ferni
97 - is it series 2 or series 3 spec? 47k is on the high end for a stock GTR, but if you really want a stock one and its in good cond then go for it. Make sure you budget big $ for maintenence and the other 'maintenence' (mods).... I've spent over 10k on my GTR in the first year .. thats with no power mods, still running the same power as when i bought it (close to standard). DanGTS
Would it happen to be the Godzilla 4WD version? I noticed one with same specs on drive. I am sure you can reduce it by a few thousand. Though for 20-25k you can get a gtst (with lower k's) and drop a GT 3040 ball bearing turbo kit into it with installation and dyno for around 7k or so making it as fast or faster than a gtr and still leaving you lots of cash for a body kit. Many options when you've got a 48k budget Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/68934-is-this-a-good-price-for-an-r33-gt-r/#findComment-1277514 Share on other sites

Yes but he hasnt got the 48k, finance compnays wont give him anoth 10k to play with, they will give him enough for the car and thats it. Prolly closer to 4-5k on insuarance best to get that quote before you get the car. Shannons, Famous are prolly best bet......mind you, my mates GF is our age and looking at getting R32 GTR and insurance was a bit under 3k, not as expensive a vehicle of cause. But when you talking insurance, age and experience have just as high a bearing (if not higher) than the total cost, and we talking about a 15k diffence in price to. wrxhoon
For that price it would want to be series 3 v-spec and a very good stock car . If its all of the above then its good value , but carefull it may look and feel good to you and a few weeks after you buy it you may have to spend big $ , have someone check it out for you . Check to see if you can get insurance and how much it will be and make sure you can afford the maintenence . Dangts , it doesn't matter how much you spend on a gts it will never be a gtr , sure you can make it as quick as a stock car . You dont need to do much to a gtr to make it much quicker though . I had a 33 with just full exhaust 3", N1 turbos , power f/c and ebc (1.2 bar), i even had a stock airbox , it was good for 11.7 1/4 mile @121 mph on stock street radials , try to do that in a gts . Don't get me wrong here, I am not one to say a gts could ever be better than a gtr but I have to somewhat disagree wrxhoon. There is a lot of potential on a gts-t if you have unlimited cash. geordie
Theres alot to be said for 4wd traction and being able to use those 300+kw. We have another r33 gtr with very mild mods , come to wsid on April the 9th and see it run if you like and while you are at it bring your 330 rwkw and see who is quicker , i can tell you the R has less that 300 awkw with very few mods and it will run mid 11's easy on street tyres . What would the 330 kw gts run with street tyres ? DanGTS
I have to agree 100% rwd cannot compete with awd on street tyres and that is why i originally said i agreed a gts will never be a gtr. Put slicks on it and it will run a good 1/4 mile. Either way I dont own a 330kw r33 all I have done to my r33gtst is put a catback and a pod/cold air box on it. I may goto the april 9th event tho, sounds like a good time. Dont get me wrong but im not rushing into this. thanks for the replys. pentae
I dont think that car is worth one dollar over $39,500 Remember, it probably cost the dealer about $32,000 and he wants to make about $15,000 off you. If you can live with that then buy it. I'm just letting you know how much bargaining room you've got, and at that price i'm sure they are not exactly getting a flood of interest. With that said its quite a nice and tidy car though. I think importing one yourself would offer a low enough risk to be worth the $15k you'll save. The trade off is that you'll have to wait 3-4 months before your driving the car around. Mandingo
went and had a look. to be honest, the car is amazing, it is 100 % mint and i want it so badly. but i will probally wait until i can find a decked out 32 GT-R that I like, and yes I think they are asking a bit too much for it, Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/68934-is-this-a-good-price-for-an-r33-gt-r/#findComment-1279429 Share on other sites
pentae
So in other words your a tyre kicker? You went there knowing the price, the car met and exceeded your expectations and you didnt buy it? :devil2: Dont take it personally, theres a tyre kicker in all of us. Especially when it comes to GTRs. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/68934-is-this-a-good-price-for-an-r33-gt-r/#findComment-1279858 Share on other sites
