GTR gearbox temps

Hi Guys,

I have noticed with my R32GTR that the transmission tunnel gets very hot (well hot enough to notice radiant heat) when running for a long time.

Is this normal? It has been running Redline Shockproof for about 8,000kms.

I don't remember my GTS-t transmission tunnel getting so hot (though it did get warm), but it might have had more insulation in the cabin?

What are your experiences?

i've never felt any heat through the trans tunnel. you sure it's not heat from the exhaust? Although the ex does run down the passenger side.

Seemed normal to me in all GTR's I have owned or Driven.. when really nailing them my leg would get really quite hot being close to the tunnel.

Mine gets hot too, but I noticed something the other day

Driving from Canberra to Wakefield I pulled the 4WD fuse to drive the 100kms in rwd. Reason for this is rear tyres have worn down a bit and the car is putting a small amount of torque to the front wheels while cruising at 110km/h (which ive been told is bad for the transfer case). While in RWD the gearbox tunnel didnt heat up anywhere near how hot it usually gets, so Im guessing its the transfer case thats causing most of the heat??
