Hey,

I have a R31 (Series 3) Silhouette as a daily!

Also i happen to have a lot of RB20DET parts lying arround (R32 half cut - stuffed engine)!...and i was thinking (as you do) of combining the 2!

Any chance the R32 manafold, R32 turbo, R32 injectors etc...would go on to the RB30E?

And would the R32 injectors run happyily with the VLT ECU? or would i have to buy VLT injectors?

Id only run the turbo on stock boost of course, and i also have a stock R32 Inter cooler)

thanks

Luke

Hello??? ANYONE??? (BUMP!!!)

sigh.. lets see..

exhaust manifold - the vLT one is top mount, the R32 one is side mount. I don't think they fit from memory. i've got an rb30 head here and a r33 ex. mani.. (r32 is same), when its daytime sometime i will check to be sure.

r32 injectors might possibly work with VLT ECU as they're similar flow rate, both are top feed. One big difference however is that rb20 is low impedence... You could probably get by with the resistor pack trick, however I'm not sure of anybody that has tried that route.. easier to go for VLT injectors. I have a feeling the VLT ECU would have to be reprogrammed, as I reckon they'd probably be overfuelling and need adjustment.

R32 turbo is pretty useless on 3L .. apparently starts spooling from near idle.. and runs out of puff not long after.. not really suitable.. too small basically. .

In the end, to be honest, for $1200-$1500 you could get all the VLT parts and it would be a safer option and less stuffing around.. and most of the rb20det stuff isn't really suitable anyhow.

I have a feeling you're not going to bother :)

Just remember, if its a daily, that means more stress on the engine, and drivetrain (r31's not strongest point), and more importantly drinks heaps more fuel. Kind of spoils the point of the cheap daily..

Thanks heaps mate, i dont think ill bother either, just was curious!!! after all the 31 is still just cool enough as it is!...hehe

I think ill fix it up abit and buy a laurel or a cefi...maybe even a 4 door R32! prob just the RB20DE version, then the parts might come in handy....time will tell

Thanks again, predator!
