mitchy_
after recent clutch problems... i got a sticker tonight, its a lovely shade of yellow, and stuck on diagonally in the middle of the window... it was for bald tyres... so basically im chasing a set of rims with a legal amount of tread on them to get me over the pits... and im guessing im going to need to change my bov aswell? its a turbosmart non-plumb back one... so yeah, if anyone can help me with the above items, and could mention some other things i should check before attempting to pass the pits aswell, that would be great.. also what would be the 'easiest' pits to pass over, and get permits from? aaaaandddd.. whats the best way to rectify the way my sticker is positioned, i beleive diagonal mounting informs the pits to rape you... tigeryas
well i heard on previous threads that the more crooked it is the harsher they'll handle you... i even heard one guy's yellow was upside down...? ossie_21
I certainly hope it isn't in the middle of the windscreen, because I beleive you are right about it being diagonal making it a worse offence. Every yellow sticker I have seen has been in the corner, but if it is on diagonally it means you were screwing around at the same time, and if it's in the middle of the windscreen diagonally it means you were being an absolute idiot. It's seems you weren't doing anything wrong, so it really shouldn't be on like that, the cop that pulled you over must be a :whackit: . I remember there was a police sting a while ago in Scarbrough, and it was on the news. A yellow 34 was doing burnouts & donuts & this was all being watched & taped (there was heaps of people around), and then the cops moved in. On the news they showed the cop putting the sticker on diagonally right in the middle of the windscreen. Hopefully you will be okay with it, but deffo get some new tires with winter coming up. I have heard some people going through the pits that just turn their bov down (if adjustable), and don't even change their rims. But with the diagonal sticker, they might screw you over.................... jonn
Just pull it off and straighten it up on the passengers side. As for the tyres, why not buy new (legal) ones and put them on your car. Then you won't get stickered for them again. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/69136-yellow-sticker-sigh/#findComment-1280360 Share on other sites
Syncope
I got one diagonally in the middle on my mums car. Wasnt being a ****, infact it was them trying to be some badass cops. Held me up for 45 minutes and in the end got a yellow for 2 oil leaks. Did i mention it was on a 92 Pintara. :? No trouble going over the pits.. well my mum took it over and didnt have problems. GTS-t VSPEC
Mitch, I've got to agree with John, buy some new tyres and get it past the pits. I've been stickered 7 times, so I understand what a pain it is, but having bald tyres is crazy especially in the wet. If the put the sticker in the middle of your window then I would make a complaint against the police, so sticker is allowed on the middle of the windscreen as it can obscure your vision. mitchy_
thats what i thought when i got home paul... they carry on about other things obscuring vision... then they whack it half way down the left hand side of the rear vision mirror.. and i *am* getting new tyres, but my car is booked in for next friday at the earliest... thats the thing... i told them that 5 times... they really were a pair of wankers, they also wouldn't give me their names or badge numbers which is illegal.. however its written on the yellow stick, but im going to complain about that. Unscarred711
Mate just pull the f@#king thing off and put it in the left hand corner where it supost to be like jonn said, they wont know sh#t, when i get yellow stickers, i just take them off and put it in the glove box, if the cops pull me over i quickly chuck it back up. No big deal. As for getin it over the pits. Well i duno about perth but in karratha i am mates with the guy who owns NW mechanical and he takes them straight of for me. So every time i get a yellow i just be a smart ass, only one time the pig only gave me 20 mins before the yellow sticker ran out, just enough to get my car home, then i had to get a f#@king permit to get it to the mechanics. blackanator
haha mathew haggerty i used to live in wickham, i know of you. guess who i saw last night at the casino? - morgan blake! OH and as for yellow stickers, i once got one on NYE a few years ago in scarborough, i dodged the big booze bus line on west coast hwy because i couldnt be bothered waiting (was the driver that night so i didnt drink) they had a little set up for ppl dodging taht on some back street, i blew 0.0 as i knew i would, and Constable Plod didnt like that, so they did an inspection on my rolla, every thing was ok on it - they looked in the engine and yellowed me for an 'oil' leak which was actually green coolant that was dry and scabby that had formed on a hose. I passed the date that i had to have the car inspected by, and i just took off the sticker, left it in my glove box, and never worried about it again - that was NYE 2001. I have since had the car fully licenced for 3 years, with a few speeding fines, etc no problem - they never enquired or sent out a letter for the defect notice. But if you are removing the sticker and or re-situating, make sure you remove the residue aswell. Good luck! Boostzor
The old "give me your name and badge number" call eh. Thats why the sticker is in the middle of the windscreen. Its on the sticker anyway, why piss em off more. So can we make a safe assessment that you were either drving like a goon or had passengers indulging in goon like behaviour? Stickers are a fact of life with imports and p platers, thank ure stars u didnt get it confiscated. Kaido_RR
Stickers are a fact of life with imports and p platers, thank ure stars u didnt get it confiscated. This is not true, i have had my skyline for over a year now and have never got a sticker yet to date, i have been pull over and cops have been all to nice with me explain that i would need permits for my mods and i should get them as soon as i can. even when i was pull over for speeding the cops never looked at me car Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/69136-yellow-sticker-sigh/#findComment-1280906 Share on other sites
AD4M
all you have to do to take it off without making a mess is just dampen it with a wet cloth for a couple minutes.it loosenes the glue on the sticker, just chuck it up in the corner like normaly seen. no big deal. good luck taking her over and i think welshpool would be the best one to take it to because they are the technichal centre. basicly if you took it to midland or kelmscott and had a dispute over a problem with your car (such as rim size or certain modifications) welshpool are the one's that have a knowledge of the ADR's and such. cheers Adam Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/69136-yellow-sticker-sigh/#findComment-1280941 Share on other sites
boj01
In two years I haven't been defected for anything or fined for any traffic offences and have been pulled up/breath tested/inspected over 10 times. It all depends on the way a person drives their car, and their attitude when you have been pulled up, even if you haven't been driving like a bonehead. teejay
sticker on an angle means little time given to rectify faults, it easy for police to spot a car on the road with an angled sticker, so they pull you over to check.
